The display is garbled and illegible. Is there a way to reset it?

Replace batteries if needed. Push prog button three times. If needed, use nail to push reset hole.

Change the filter then unplug the unit from the electrical outlet and the code will be cleared. Just shutting the humidifier off won't clear the code, it has to be unplugged from the power to clear the flashing CF.

Found the answer in the original manual. CF means check filter, this displays every 7200 hours of operation. If the filter is OK just unplug the unit for 2 minutes and the display will reset.

Your component has digital technology which has a tendency to 'lock up'.A reset solution for your problem is to simply unplug it for 5 minutes and plug it back in.That should fix your problem.If it is easier to pull the circuit breaker,that is fine also.Digital components are defined mainly as things which are programmable such as ovens and refrigerators with LCD or LED displays,thermostats,DVR's,answer machines,TV's and much more.Some things which are not exactly programmable but can be reset the same way are video game consoles,modems,battery operated devices,telephones. you have any questions or need more help,just comment here and I will get an autolink to your post and reply ASAP.Greg

This has happened to me. Check the contact points in the base of the machine. Ours had some corrosion on them. I took an emery board and filed the corrosion off to clean the contact points.

it is a liquid display and wiping the screen may have damaged the display --same as pressing on a LCD tv screen with the finger will distort the display at the finger point

Per the owner's manual, you simply unplug your device for 30 seconds. Upon plugging it back in, the CF notification should be cleared.

This assumes you have also changed the filter, of course.

Reset the unit once it is refilled by pushing the power button and holding it down for 5 seconds before releasing. This should reset your unit to factory settings.
