The simple answer is to use a wifi app that will scan all the devices connected to your router.if you switch on say a tablet or phone in different orders then the IP address assigned to each will keep changing.either scan using wifi scanner to find the one assigned to the fire stick or switch everything off including the router and then only switch on the router and fire stick.if the router is 192.168.0.1 then the fire stick becomes 192.168.0.2 it jumps the last number by one.also possible to go to the router server which is usually found on the router case and then view all the devices .then always fire up the router and the stick before connecting other devices.

I have had Wi Fi on my Kindle Fire and now it will not connect and keeps asking for an IP address

When you connect to Wifi and if it shows "obtaining IP address" means it is searching for the IP address of the wifi sender...
when you connect to internet it is done through IP address so your phone is tying to locate an IP address with which it can connect
to the internet. Below are the steps to connect your device to Wifi:
Applications-->settings-->turn Wifi ON-->select the wifi that you want to connect from the list displayed-->enter the network password(if it asks for) -->connected Another easy way...just open the chrome app in your phone and try typing in some website like google.com when it tries to connect a pop up will appear "try connecting to WiFi ..mobile data will incur charges.." something of that sort...and you can click connect to wifi...and automatically it will detect the wifi that is around your location. You can check for your IP address through Ip-details.com

Continues to say acquiring ip address? Singnal strength is excellent! What's the problem?

Quite offer the user name and password have been entered incorrectly. The first action I take is to reset the router back to factory sitting and re-enter your details again. Remember that spaces and punctuation has to be entered exactly as required by your isp. Passwords and sometimes user names are case sensitive. To reset most router there is a reset button at the back of the router which needs to be pressed for up to 30 seconds with power on to complete the reset. Then check your computer/laptop /Tablet to make sure that the password you have used is correct. I start with the router because that is normally the most troublesome.

Authentication failed

Are you trying to connect to a wireless network ?
If so when asked for a password to authenticate yourself, you will need the correct password, otherwise authentication will fail and it will be impossible for you to connect to the network. That's without using the correct password of course. If you are the administrator of your network.
Connect to the router's or Wireless AP interface, there will be an IP address associated with the device (check the owners manual for the address) and type this into your browser to access the Web GUI, no from here you will have to find the wireless settings and make sure that WPA2 security is enabled and that the password you create fits the criteria that it asks.

Once you have done this go back to the computer you where originally trying to connect with and use the password that you just configured when it asks you.

If you are still unsure please ask me.

How do i change the router network password? what is the ip adress??

The internal, LAN-IP address is normally set to a default, private number. Linksys routers, for example, use 192.168.1.1 for their internal IP address. D-Link and Netgear routers typically use 192.168.0.1. Some US Robotics routers use 192.168.123.254, and some SMC routers use 192.168.2.1. No matter the brand of router, its default internal IP address should be provided in documentation. Administrators often have the option to change this IP address during router setup. In any case, however, the private LAN-IP address remains fixed once set. It can be viewed from the router's administrative console.
The external, WAN-IP address of the router is set when the router connects to the Internet service provider. This address can also be viewed on the router's administrative console. Alternatively, the WAN-IP address can be found by visiting a Web-based IP address lookup service like http://checkip.dyndns.org/ from any computer on the home LAN.
Another way to identify the public IP addresses of routers, involves executing a ping or traceroute command. From inside a home network, the (DOS) command "ping -r 1" will send a message through the home router that will cause its IP address to be displayed. For example, "ping -r 1 www.yahoo.com" should result in a message like the following displayed on the command prompt:
To change router password Open your Internet browser, type the address of the router into the URL address bar, and open it. The address is typically in the form of 192.168.X.X. This is the local network address. Enter the account name and password to open the router setup utility. Navigate through the setup utility until you find the screen that will let you change the password. You will need to enter the old password to change it. Decide on a new password that has good security to a hacker. The best password is more than 8 characters and uses both lower case and upper case letters and numbers. Some will allow you to use special characters also. Do not make the password anything that can be found in a dictionary or any date of significance. Enter the old password in the change password page of the router. When prompted then enter the new password. You will be asked to enter it twice to confirm that the correct password is entered. Immediately, record the new password in some secure location that you can find if you forget it. Confirm the password change on the router page and log off the router. To check the information and that the router has been setup correctly with the new password, open the router address in the browser again and login with the new information. If you are able to login, you have successfully changed the password. Network: Router Ssl Vpn

192.168.0.50 not asking for user name & password

Well, if that does not work then perform the below task to check for the correct IP address that you need to have access to:
# Connect your computer directly to your wireless router and perform the following tests. A. Click on Start—Programs—Accessories—Command Prompt. B. In Command Prompt window, type in 'ipconfig' and hit 'Enter'. Note down the IP Address, Subnet mask & Default Gateway here. Also, mail us the same IP configuration.
Now on your browser type the IP Address as saw in default gateway. This should work.

I have the same problem too

Try this procedure:

To Spoof a MAC Address
  1. Connect the computer that your ISP's installers used to establish Internet connection to the router. If you are unsure which computer was used, call your ISP, and ask what MAC address was registered. Then, using the instructions in the box below find the computer whose MAC address matches their records.
  2. Disconnect other computers from the router.
  3. (If you do not want to disconnect other computers, you need to know the adapter's MAC address, as described in the box below. Then, in step 6, type Use This MAC Address, entering the adapter's address.)
  4. In an Internet browser type the address 192.168.0.1.
  5. Type admin for the username, password for the password, and click OK.
  6. Go to the Basic Settings > Router Mac Address.
  7. Select Use Computer MAC Address.
  8. Click Apply. This automatically gives the router the computer's MAC address.
  9. Click Test to make sure you are connected. If you are not connected, contact your ISP.

hi there ...

your isp is at&t? please verify the ip address straight to the modem if its is 192.168.1.1 and if your modem from your isp is set to DHCP or BRIDGE mode.

IF IP address is 192.168.1.1 (DHCP)
... change the LAN IP address of the router to 192.168.2.1 or 5.1 to prevent any IP conflict
by doing this :

1. access setup page of router usually 192.168.1.1
2. under setup tab look for the ip address, change it, then save
3. click on the status tab , and look for a VALID ip address

IF MODEM is set to BRIDGE mode
.... please ask username and password from your ISP coz we would need to set your router to PPOE...
1. access setup page
2. under setup tab look for INTERNET CONNECTION TYPE
3. select PPPoE
fill in username and password
select "keep"alive
save
4. click on status tab
look for LOG in TYPe ===> click CONNECT
if connected : check a valid IP address
if authentication failed verify again your username and password from your ISP

Goodluck!

Connect it to your router with an ethernet cable.
Make sure the router is setup correctly to your modem, if you can connect all your devices by ethernet cable to the internet then it's set.
If you are using a wireless connection and if it asks for the WEP or WPA key, make sure that you are entering the correct encryption key. You may want to call your router manufacturer to know the correct key for the wireless connection. FYI, it will say that the wireless network is connected but it will still fail the IP Address.

If you have a wired connection and the IP Address or DNS failed, I suggest you to call your Internet Service Provider to check for the Internet connection and obtain these (static IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, primary DNS server and secondary DNS server). If your Internet is okay, enter the IP settings manually on the console (System > Network Settings > Edit Settings > IP settings).

That should work.
