It could be that the BH elliptical you have does not need an external power supply, but it does need a new set of batteries in the console.
For example:
The X8 BH elliptical is self powered, when a user strides at a speed about 20 RPM's; electricity is generated to allow the console to function properly. Exercising recharges the batteries in the console.
If you want to take a look at the X8's manual as a reference to see where the batteries are located in the console you can check it out here http://www.gophersport.com/files/pdf/GS68997_BHFitnessX81.pdf
We hope this helps in any way :) if you ever need a little help trying to figure things out you can chat with us at www.sportsmith.net or by phone at 888-713-2880

Do you think the power cord is going bad? If so here is the parts list for the Schwinn 430 if you need to order a new AC adaptor. If you think the connection inside the machine is going bad you may want to find a servicer to look at it.

The first thing you should do is check with your manufacturer. Not only should you be covered by warranty, but they should have the right parts for your machine. If your warranty is expired or the manufacturer has gone out of business, you should look elsewhere for parts specific to your machine; however universal parts may also do the trick. If this is the case, you may want to consider buying used parts.
