I have a radio station on when i turn my car off (102.5) but when i start it the radio always starts on a different channel (102.9)

My experience has always been to replace the current station preset with the new.
I recall two process:

1. The first locate the new station that you want and tune the radio to the station. Press and hold the specific preset for several seconds to replace the old station with the new.
2. Tune the radio to the new station and press the set button if so equipped and than press the preset button. In some radios they have group 1 and group 2. In that case press the set button once for set 1 and press it twice for set 2 and then press the preset button.

The radio has a permanent power wire to keep it's station memory. You are losing power on this for some reason. Possibly starter motor is shorting the battery. Possibly one of the big earth straps is corroded.

The radio has two pins for power connection. The one is active only when the carkey has been turned, the other is always live with 12V to keep the radio settings. It sounds like it is only powered by the key dependant power, and not the "always-on" for the radio memory.

hi there is a option in the settings to automatically search for the station if frequency changes try turning it off to see if that helps

I would say the problem is inside the radio itself. I have no idea if anyone repairs these units anymore or if any good used ones are available.

internal failure in radio.. need to send to electronics place or have s]dealer send yours out for repair cost is around 250.00

set the radio on the station you want it on and hold down the button for a couple or three seconds and it should preset the station for that button

this look like a low battery and every time you try to crank your car it takes more power and kill the main power to the radio
solution # 2 the radio as 2 power wires one is always hot ( with current) and the other is connected to the ignition switch if you have replaced the radio those 2 wires maybe are connected backwards the one that goes to the switch is probably connected directly to the battery and the one is suppose to be always hot is probably connected to the switch if you have the original radio have your battery tested and if is ok then try get a haynes book at any auto parts for you car and try to follow the wire that is always hot normally is a yellow or orange wire
solution #3 this apply only if you car still have the original radio
turn your ignition switch to the on position but don't crank your car and turn your radio on select a radio station then turn your ignition key off and wait 3 minutes then turn your ignition switch on again with out cranking your car and the radio should be in the same radio station you select if this test pass then chances are is your battery getting low and if this test fail then the hot wire has a blow fuse look for the fuse inside the hook let me know what happend and good luck

when your radio is on a certain channel the only thing it does is try to pick up that certain channel. say you go threw a tunnel or around the side of a hill. or in a residential neiborhood. the radio has a lot of interference from other things trying to pick up the same signal. there is nothing you can turn off or anything. as long as your getting a good sound on a certain channel leave it there,, when it don't pick up so good your loosing your signal and need to find a station that is closer to were you are. good-luck ray
