Voicemail button redirected to phone line

Our voicemail button is now a solid red and when you press it to check for messages, it rings to another one of our lines. Is there a way to restore it back to voicemail?

If, perhaps you mean "it rings another one of our..." Phone Extensions, then just press the illuminated red message button, go to the ringing phone (the extension number will appear on your phone if you have a display phone) and answer the call by lifting the phone off-hook, then hang it up. Now the message button on your phone will work normally. What happened was that the user of the phone that was ringing when you pressed the button had inadvertently left you a "message waiting" after they called your phone on the intercom. By pressing the message button on your phone, you returned their call, and by answering the return call, you cleared the message waiting indication on your phone. There can be more than one message waiting, so if the light is still on after you clear the first call, using the procedure above, do it again and again until each call is returned, answered and cleared.

Testimonial: "thanks so much! Before I received this answer I pressed clear on the phone and now it seems I have erased access to the company mailbox entirely. It says "reorder tone" so now I have to look up how to reestablish this line but thank you for your advice."

You have a phone connected to a television? Contact Samsung Support Direct. The phone doesn't have voicemail built in, so you are dialling your telco to get them. What you are pressing is a signal to ring the other phones.

Our school has a Siemens 500 OptiPoint 500 advance phone that has a greeting one. Can't find out in any of the manuals as to how I can go about changing it. Can anyone out there help me?

We always programme the voicemail to 555. If you have something different change what is below, which is our 'one sheet' user guide from www.dschiltern.co.uk

All Types of Phones

1. Your mailbox number will be the same as your extension number.

2. Default password is 1 2 3 4

3. Voicemail group number is 555 (unless programmed differently)

Before callers can leave voicemail messages you must activate your mailbox and record your greeting message. We would suggest something along the lines of

"You are through to the voicemail of . . . . I am sorry I am unable to take your call at the moment but please leave a message after the tone and I shall get back to you "

To Record Your Greeting Message

1. Dial the voicemail group number (usually 555)

2. Enter your password (default is 1234)

3. Keep pressing 3 to scroll to greeting messages

4. Press 8 to toggle between your two greeting messages

5. Press 0 to change the message and follow the instructions.

To leave voicemail just press 'Release' or hang up.

Responding to Voicemail

On a display phone you will see "You have messages" on the top line and "Display messages?" on the bottom line. Press tick twice to go to voicemail and then enter your password.

On Siemens 'Entry' phone or display phones with a 'voicemail' button, just press this button and enter password when asked.

On ordinary analogue phones you will get broken dial tone. Dial the voicemail group number (usually 555) and enter password.

In all cases you will then be able to listen to your messages.

To delete a message press 0. It will ask you to confirm by pressing 0 again.

How to increase ring duration

First of all you need to know the number you dial for voicemail. Make a note of this.
Then, go to the dialpad and dial:
*#61#
and press Call.
A box will popup telling you what the redirect to voicemail delay is. On my handset the default was 15 seconds.
Now, dial:
**61******SECS#
and press Call
where *** is your voicemail number and SECS is the number of seconds you want it to ring for before diverting. For example, on Vodafone UK the voicemail number is 121 so to set the ring for 30 seconds before diverting, dial:
**61*121**30#
Once the box has come up saying it was successful you can use *#61# again to check the setting.

Red blinking light but no messages. pressed and held the find h/s button down for 5 secs and that did not work. unplugged the main line and did not work. now what?

You have unheard messages on the voicemail system provided by your telephone company. This system takes messages when someone calls while you're already on the phone. Please contact your telephone company for instructions on accessing their voicemail system.

Problem has just come up-We have 4 incoming lines-for some reason every once in a while now you hear a very, very brief ring (milisecond) and it goes directly to a voice mail. We are sitting here and...

If the voicemail it goes to is the on site voicemail, then try canceling call forwarding of the phone associated with the mailbox that gets the message by pressing FEATURE #4 from that phone. If the voicemail it goes to is an external voicemail as in that of a cellphone then try canceling line redirection by pressing #84 then press the line to cancel redirection on. Repeat for additional lines.

When I press the voicemail button to get the messages instead of going right into the voicemail messages, it just keeps ringing. The display says "Ringing ST26"

The voicemail system is not answering. Often on Toshiba systems the voicemail is a seperate PC based unit. Try locating voicemail and check for power or reboot. If this is a PC based voicemail, a common failure is the voiceboards in the PC that allow calls to be answered by the voicemail. If you detrermine that voicemail is running but just not answering, a bad voice board is the likely cause.

How do you turn the ringers off on the phone?

Do Not Disturb (Feature 01) will turn the ringing off of a phone, but it will also send any lines assigned to ring on that phone to voicemail (if applicable).

OR, to turn ringing off in system programming:

From ext. 10 or 11, press Feature button, 00, left intercom button twice, right intercom button once. Enter extension number of phone you wish to remove the ringing line from. Light indicators next to line keys show ringing status. Press line keys to desired ringing preference for each line-
steady green light- immediate ring
green fast flutter- no ring
green slow flash- delayed ring
Press "feature" 00 to exit

Night button and incoming calls

The programs involved with you ringing are 81 ( no light or Day Mode ), 84 ( blinking red light or Day 2 Mode ), and 87 ( solid red light or Night Mode ). To change the ringing assignments you need to know the port numbers of the phones you want to ring or not ring. You can do this by pressing DN/ICM dialing # 4 0 2 at each phone, the diaplay will show the physical and logical port numbers. These numbers will be used to turn on or off the aaociated lamps within the above programs. Do you have anyone on staff that understands the system programming ? Let me know ...Mike
