FAX MACHINE 2140, THE PAPER FEED WILL NOT CATCH CAN THIS BE FIXED

Usually the culprit is the feed rollers get slick and the paper will not grab. Check the rollers.

Clean the roller and separation pad in the paper pick up area. Use a rag w/ soap(just a little w/ hot water or use SANDED PAPER and gently do circular move to GIVETHE RUBBERA STRONGGER GRIP or replace it.

When the back output tray is pulled down, the printer has a straight paper path from the manual feed slot through to the back of the printer. Use this paper feed and output method when you want to print on thick paper, labels or envelopes.


Open the back cover

Open the manual feed slot cover.

Using both hands, slide the manual feed slot paper guides to the width of the paper that you are going to use.

Using both hands, put one piece of paper or one envelope in the manual feed slot until the front edge of the paper or envelope touches the paper feed roller. When you feel the machine pull in the paper, let go.

• Put the paper into the manual feed slot with the side to be printed face up.
• Make sure that the paper or envelope is straight and in the proper position on the manual feed slot. If it is not, the paper or the envelope may not be fed properly, resulting in a skewed printout or a paper jam.
• Do not put more than one piece of paper in the manual feed slot at any one time, as it may cause a jam.
• If you put any Media (paper, envelope and so on) in the manual feed slot before the printer is in the Ready state, the media may be ejected without being printed on.

Use the fax setup wizard from the HP toolbox , when it asks if you have an answering machine connected to the fax line say yes. Or setup a distinctive ring from you phone company and set the fax machine to answer double rings only. Use fax setup wizard to do this as well.

I've been told labels have to be manually fed on that printer.

clean your printer paper sensor. if it is not working then you can check paper feed assembly.

Lets start with the paper feed problem. You need a new paper feed roller to pull the paper in when it should. You need a new seperation pad to prevent multiple pages from being fed at the same time. you will have to look at your machine to determine which parts are needed. here is a link to a company that I do business with. You don't need the back board as long as you can get the paper to feed in ok.
