If your fridge is a fairly a new fridge then this heater story does not apply. Your problem may be one of the following....

a) There is too much house dust covering the condenser and it is not cooling.

b) If it is really hot, then most probably your condenser fan motor is not working.

What you see at the freezer and fridge separation wall is only the sympton of the problem. Really issue is the condenser fan motor not working or condenser coil blocked.

You got to address this issue quickly. Otherwise it might damage your compressor or compressor start device due to over heating.

To keep condensation away it is using hi side system to keep it warm. ,sometimes it is a small heater. If it is really hot check if the coils around condensor are clean and condensor get a good air circulation.

The section between ref. and freezer has a elec. heater in it that keep humidity from coming up on it so it suppose to be warm but not real hot. So if it real warm that ok but if it to hot that you can't touch it you may need to replace it.

Check your owners manual troubleshooting. See if you find an answer. Please be more specific. Sounds like it's "stuck" in defrost mode, since it uses electrical heating elements to make the freezer coils melt ice off, but only lasts long enough to remove the collected ice. I would guess the unit runs constantly, or cannot maintain temperature. If the defrost cycle is not working there is a timer not working, or relay, or somehow a very rare short in the defrost system.

We bought our frig exactly 6 years ago (to the date!) and suddenly the frig part is cool, but not cold, while the freezer section stay cold and ice is frozen.

Check your freezer section ! Is the coil frozen over ? If so it may have a burnt out defrost element or a bad defrost timer. When the freezer coil freezes over cold air is restricted to the refrigerator section.

The freezer section of my whirlpool double door refrigerator becomes too cool while refrigerator section does not cool lower than 56 deg F. Setting of Freezer section is at minimum cool (extreme left)...

when you open the freezer door you should hear a fan running, that's what cools your refrigerator section. If you don't hear that fan, that may be the problem. Also if there is frost on the back panel of the freezer that also may indicate a defrost problem, which could cause the same problems

My frig is extremely hot to the touch on the metal face that separates the freezer and frig. Any thoughts on what might be causing this problem. If it helps, we just moved the frig from another home. ...

Likely the cooling fan has died. This happened on my unit. The fan is visible from underneath on the rear left side. Use a flashlight to see if it is spinning. I used a broom handle to tap it and it started to run, which cooled the metal you found hot. I ordered the part on line and replaced it. Heating problem went away.

The fan behind the fridge at the bottom which cools the compressor , is not turning . Remove the back panel covering the compressor and see if something is blocking the blade . If not , motor is bad , so put a small fan there to keep the coils and compressor cool until you can get a new motor .

Frig not very cold & metal between freezer and frig gets hot

Poor cooling and a hot divider mean that air is not moving effectively over the condenser coils under the fridge. Check to see if the fan is blowing under there while the compressor is running. If not, then the condenser fan has failed and needs to be replaced. If it is, then use a vacuum with a long nozzle to give it a good cleaning under there.

Freezer cool, but Frig section is not cool

Volman, take a look in the freezer section and see if you have a heavy build-up of frost on the back panel. You want to take the evap cover off and see if the evaporator is frozen up. If so, your refer did not go into defrost and cannot move the air over to the refer side. If this is the case you will have to defrost that evaporator completely. On these Amanas the culprit is usually the bi-metal which sits on the evaporator. Look at it and see if it's buldged. The part number for the bi-metal is ro131661. If you defrost the evap your refer will start cooling again normally until it freezes over again. This will give you time to replace the bimetal....Catriver...post back.
