SOMETIMES A DOOR SWITCH GOES BAD AND BACK FEEDS POWER THAT RUNS THE FAN AND IF IT HAS IT SOMETIMES THE TURNTABLE TOO SO YOU HEAR THE FAN RUN ALL THE TIME BUT TYPICALLY IT IS NOT HEATING. YOU COULD PUT A SMALL CUP OF WATER INSIDE TO SEE IF IT IS HEATING, PROBABLY BAD DOOR SWITCHES OR BAD CONTROLLER.
Was it just the exhaust fan that came on? If so this is normal when cooking on the stove for long period of time without the fan running. The heat builds up under the microwave and eventually activates the fan.
The timer that runs the mag is stuck. Unplug fan for 30 seconds and check it out. If not fixed, then look at replacing if microwave is older 7-8 years old.
In most modern combination microwave ovens, if not all, there is a fan that comes on after use to cool the magnetron and cavity down. This is quite normal but if you still have doubts, contact Kenwood's web site and send them a question. Hope this halps to put your mind at rest.
I had a similar prob with another brand microwave. It is a defect and they recommended stop using it. Since mine was out of warranty, there was nothing they would do. That night, it came on by itself for the last time with a grand finale of grand finale's firework show. I had to jump on top of the fridge to unplug it. Totally freaked me out. Hint: don't buy cheap $49.00 microwaves. Spend some money and buy a good one or you might be homeless after your house burns down.
Just checked the GE website. Had the same problem with my 5 year old microwave. GE website says to close and open the door quickly three times. First time I did this it didn't work. Second time I closed the door with some significant force and reopened it more quickly. Worked. Unplugged the microwave, plugged it back in, still fine.
Neither the owner's manual nor the quick start guide for this model addresses that specifically, but most commercial microwaves do work this way to ensure proper cooling.
The manual does state that when you open the door then close it, thelight and fan will stay on for an unspecified period of time.
If the word "HOT" appears in the display, the magnetron is overheatedand the fan will run until the temperature is brought down.
If the fan fan NEVER shuts off, then there may be a stuck relay or defective sensor.

F6 means a problem in the control circuit board. Try unplugging the microwave with the door open, then plug it back. Try the solution that you find here, if it does not work the panel must be replaced.
The power to the unit is drooping (when the heavy microwave load kicks in) causing the reset.
Try plugging it into a different outlet (whole different circuit if
possible) and if that works then you have a wiring problem to the
original outlet.
