How do you set floats on a 60 hp johnson

Check the float it maybe set too high... the gas falling into the float isn't running long enough before the float shuts her down.. Also check that the line from the fuel tank is clear and not full of kinks. Then set the low idle and high idle needle valves on the carb... call manufacturer or local much to get the screw turns...make sure the rubber seal between the engine and the air is not sucking in air. ... it's usually like a mini pipe.

Start with one. Bring the speed down slowly. If the motor "sneezes" and dies ,open more, maybe one-half turn and restart. If engine now runs as you idle down, slowly turn in the idle screw until the motor starts to speed up without moving the throttle. A little more and it should sneeze again. From the point where it started to speed up, back the adjustment about one eighth to one quarter turn open. See how it runs. If you have to open the idle screw way out or it keeps sneezing you probably need to clean the carb.

try priming the fuel bulb when it boggs down and if it speeds up then replace fuel pump diaphrams etc and clean carbs and balance to start a fresh ! fuel tank clean ?

your carburetors might be dirty blocking flow to the high speed jets causing it to bog down

Not familiar with that specific motor but had similar vintage smaller HP Johnsons. From my experience it sounds like it could be that the high speed carb adjustment is too lean. What I would try is running the backing off the high speed screw 1/4 turn to 3/4 turn, then test. If works better, screw back in in 1/8 turn increments until the problem recurs, then back out 1/4 turn and leave it there.
