I have tried nothing, and honestly i do not know where to start. I also am not very mechanically skilled when it comes to these kinds of things. Should i look for a professional?
Re: how do i fix a turntable on a 5 disc cd player
It would probably be more expensive to repair the unit you have than it would be to just replace it. If you have never worked on an electronic music system you'll find it's not the place to start. That is if you want it to work when you're done.

Most multi disc players initialise by checking each compartment for a disc, checking it will focus and then, like Windows OS, knows if you want a specific disc or whether it is empty.
I would say, that was normal.
I had the same problem and found the cure for it. The drive belt was streched and when it started to close on the disc, the belt would slip and eventually show loading error..The two belts cost $4.50 at belts plus. Hope this helps you
Honestly, when the mechanical parts wear to this extent, you're better off to buy a new CD/DVD player, since they are so much cheaper than repairing older units.
First you do is to unplug the cord of your CD unit for 5 hours in order
to drain the stored current, the purpose is to reset the unit. After the
5 hours plug the CD see to it if it open If not, just try to press down
on the stop button and pressing eject button at same time and it will
unlock the tray .Then the other option is to open the cover of the CD
unit and unplug the unit again to avoid electricshock . When open
already look for the disc platter moved it outward while driving the
gear or simply push out. The drawer or door of the CD player and you
will see a small circular disc which is often called turntable or disc
platter. When the disc platter is out push it back and push it out you
do this three times so the slider mechanism align it properly. If you do
already what i said then plug it again and if works already closed the
cover. The slider mechanism, depending on the age of the unit and the
manufacturer, consists of the small chrome rail, a drive motor, a small
gear assembly, and (in some units) a small belt that drives the slider
unit via the motor. This small belt causes all sorts of problems. If
the belt is broken or slipping, it can cause skipping, dropouts, or
simply no start up at all. Also, if the belt breaks in the middle of
the disc, the drive mechanism gets hair or dirt wrapped up into the
gears, or the pick-up assembly doesn?t return to the start position
(called home), the unit will (99% of the time) refuse to release the
disc, causing it to become stuck inside the unit. There?s a little
micro or leaf type switch located at home position that sometimes gets
dirty or breaks and, causing this problem also. Hope it may help you; Regards; VOTIT
I think there are a couple of faults here. The first one is maybe a faulty motor on the eject mechanism. The second one is a faulty laser unit as it is not scanning the disc. Hope this helps.
New CDs may have some rough spots around the inner and outer edges. If such a CD is used, this unit may reject the CD.
To remove these rough spots, rub the edges with a pencil or ball-point pen, etc.
