Pressing yellow button or M button opens a Menu, and then pressing the keys to open the Feature menu shows a Child Lock item. If unchecked, the Child Lock is removed.
If the subtitles are played by the TV then you can stop closed captioning. However, if the captions are part of the movie, then you have to select movie settings at the beginning of the movie or click these using the menu keys to get manual control without a remote.
Unless the TV has a proper on/off switch, when it's plugged in it's either in 'standby' or it's 'on' - those are your two choices!
Contrary to what we're being duped into believing, the energy consumption in standby is almost nothing, and you CERTAINLY won't see the difference in your leccy bills.

if no code number is available for a remote control, try pressing the code search on the remote, then select tv, then keep pressing power on switch until the tv responds. When it respond press enter. Your remote is set.
