Hi, I have a Viewsonic PJ 588D projector, when I turn it on the lamp comes on for a few seconds then it goes of again. I have changed the lam and still experiencing the same issue. Can anyone help? Thanks. WK.
The air flow to the lamp might be clogged. Give it a good cleaning inside...

If the ventilation fan is not spinning you will really have this problem, because if the fan is not working overheating problem will arise and will lead to this problen, so you will need first to replace the ventilation fan and that should fix this problem....

My solution sounds dumb, I had the same issue. Took the lamp cover off the bottom. The screws were loose holding in the lamp. Maybe they heat and expand and eventually work their way out and the lamp doesn't make good contact. Just tightened mine up, the unit would power off after 45 minutes prior. Been on now for 5 hours, no trouble.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power led, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. Viewing it in "Mosaic" will make surf easy.
