Could be....

  1. There's a short in your speaker wiring somewhere
  2. or a blown speaker
  3. or you are recycling the speakers from an old all-in-one system and they're too low Ohms
Check your speakers first. If they are less than 8 Ohms, or there's no label on them which gives the Impedance (in Ohms) then I'll lay money that they aren't suitable for the amp. Stop using them and get some proper 8 Ohm speakers.

Wiring shorts might be only a single strand of copper wire. But it's enough that at higher volumes it conducts enough current between the speaker terminals to trip the amp's protection mode.

Fix the problem. Go through your wiring. Check using a torch. If all looks good then it's a blown speaker.

Remove the speaker wires from the amp. Switch the amp on and turn the volume up full. The amp should stay on. Turn the volume down and switch off.

Now connect ONE speaker only. Try the amp on and volume up again. If it trips out then that's the faulty speaker. Repeat by adding one more speaker each time. When the amp trips, the last speaker added is the culpret.

SOURCE: when i turn on receiver JVC rx-6032v it says overload

Overload indicates a short in the audio output semiconductors, check speaker wires for shorts, if okay! you will need a professional to assess cost to replace outputs.

I have a jvc rx-664v audio/video control receiver and it keeps saying overload what should I do

If it says OVERLOAD, you are playing it to loud, to long. Try playing it at 1/2 your normal volume. If it doesn't go into overload, that was the problem. If you have any additional questions, you may contact me at my website, audioserviceclinic.com. Thanks you.

Overloaded. When watching movies or dvd's or TV my receiver will shut down and it says "OVERLOADED". It happens when I have the volume at 50 or more. Am I underpowered? What do I need to do?

your probably overdriving your speakers. unit will detectand set overload when it gets hot or your speakers start to disort out. most amps is at full volume at half volume anyways

My reciever plays then cuts out

They don't overload from missing speakers. I'm curious, what buggered the one speaker?

Examine all of your speaker wires carefully to be sure no unintended contact is made between them and anything else.

Is "overload" being displayed?

“OVERLOAD” starts flashing on the display.

Speakers are overloaded because of high volume.

1. Press STANDBY/ON on the front panel to turn off the receiver.
2. Stop the playback source.
3. Turn on the receiver again, and adjust the volume.
----------------
Speakers are overloaded because of short circuit of speaker terminals.

Press STANDBY/ON on the front panel, then check the speaker wiring.

If “OVERLOAD” does not disappear after turning on the receiver again, unplug the AC power cord, then plug it back in again.
If speaker wiring is not short-circuited, contact your dealer.

Display shows an "Overload" error. Was working just fine up to now

Hi Mobius,

Two things cause the overload warning.
  • High Volume
  • A short in one of the speakers.
Click here to view a downloadable copy of the manual. Refer to page 38.

JVC RX-7000V

As per the instruction manual the overload is there because of high volume condidtions and your over heating the unit. They recomend to turn down the volume shut off the reciver wait a few minutes and turn back on the unit with lower volumes. Second it states that the peaker wires or speakers could be shorted so make sure the speakers are good and the wires when you connected them to the reciver are not shorted. If all is hooked up properly then you have a problem in the output stage of the amp and its gonna need service unless you know how to replace the defective output devices? If not Go online at the addy I give you to find about service parts or service manuals.. Good Luck http://www.jvcservice.com
