Try another memory card, memory card can go bad. If this does not solve the problem your camera has a fault in the SD memory card or the memory card board.

First, get a card reader (they're very cheap) and use it to download the pics from the card. Then, re-insert the card into the camera and go into the menu and find "format"....follow the on-screen instructions to completely erase the card and optimize it for your new camera.

Images lost

Take out the memory card and try to view the pics on the camera. Are they there? If so, your camera is just using the internal memory. You need to download those pics and then format the internal memory. Then, insert your card and all should work.

With no card in the camera, try to view the pics. If they show up, they are being stored in the internal memory. It must be formatted to completely erase it before the camera will start saving to the memory card.

I received a new Compact Flash card (4GB) for my Nikon and when I put it in the camera it says out of memory?

If there are any pics in the internal memory, you need to get rid of them. With no card in the camera, download any you want to save and then go into the menu and find "format"...follow the instructions to erase the internal memory. Then, insert the new card and do the "format" thing again.

My new card w/ pics on it, when inserted into

Do not format the card....it will be erased. You need to get a card reader and use it to download your pics. When the pics are safely downloaded, then you can format the card but it in the camera, not the computer. 36e5191.jpg

Memory card formatting

Unfortunately, there is no way to format your card without losing any saved pictures. Sometimes, if you insert your card into other cameras or printing kiosks at walgreens or target, it will work. it's a long shot though. Chances are, you may have to lose your saved pictures :(
