Metabo 18V cordless drill lithiom ion batteries not taking charge

My batteries ran down,( led lights on the back flashing indicating that they need recharging). When I recharge them, they only take approx 2 minutes and then indicate that they are fully charged. I did a similiar problem some 18 months ago when the drill was still under warranty. I got the batteries and charger back from the supplier, being told that they had to "reset" the batteries. Any ideas out there?

The "memory" effect really only effects nicad and nimh batteries. Lithium is not really affected by this. on early Metabo LI batteries if the batteries had to be reset you had to put the batteries back in the charger. The reset was in the charger. then that was soon changed to having the reset in the battery itself. you could do it by simply pressing the LED button on the back of the battery. It sound like you either have a bad cell in the battery or bad electronics in it.

Some batteries develop 'memory'. Run the batteries down until they are completely dead, then recharge them fully. Do this a couple times to get them back to normal.

Just bought a Ruobi drill with 18V Lithium Batteries. Been chatging for over an hour. Still not charged. Just the bottom Green light stays on. Is this normal? How long does it take?

The Ryobi charger will flash green as it charges and then remain steady or slowly flashing green when fully charged. Flashing red means testing and if it remains steady or slowly flashing red it is defective.

Metabo sbz 18v impuls drill has been sitting idol for years with a burnt out motor, have finally got round to fitting a new one. was working ok until I put the li-ion batteries in the charger. The charger...

If it is that old, the batteries are probably nimh (nickel metal hydride), not lithium, but either way, they will not be any good after sitting that long unused. Nimh have to be charged every couple of weeks due to self discharge, and lithium need to be charged every couple of months, but once a month is better. This is true if you use the drill or not, you have to take care of the batteries. They will have to be rebuilt or replaced. Oh, also make sure you are using the correct charger because if you use the wrong one, the batteries could catch fire and damage your home/garage/shop. Never leave a charger in use unattended. (Do not try to charge batteries and go to bed, very dangerous!) Good luck

I "m 99% sure Milwalkee is the only company that is interchangable..lithium ion and Ni cad ......... the new Milwalkee Lithiom ion chargers will chare both lithium and nicad, but the ni cad chargers will not charge lithium ion. Thanks Hope this is helpful!
