My Hotpoint Fridge/Freezer only works with the freezer at the bottom and the fridge is fed from the freezer via ducting to the fridge at the top ---- can anyone tell me why the freezer works perfectly and yet the fridge at the top does not get cold as a fridge should -- incidentally, the ducting is NOT clogged up

There has to be something restricting the air flow to the fridge. If the fan is running blowing cold air into the freezer, then it should be cooling the fridge too. Empty out the fridge and freezer and use a blow drier to blow hot air into the duct work. There could be an ice blockage not visible in the duct work.

Hotpoint ffa90 fridge/freezer. why freezer not working?

Dear William,

Here is a link for you at Library Hotpoint Freezer Instructions For Installation and Use ManualsOnline com

This appears to be a temperature sensor which has failed or is outside of tolerance. It will be seen in the manual and is attached directly to the coil. The bus it is connected to will have two wires running to it. In order to read the sensor . A digital multi -meter is necessary to read the DC voltage. The tolerances are in the repair manual.

Fare. Well.

Whirpool wgi fridge freezer, fridge not cooling?

Most frideges get all their cooling from the freezer. There will be a fan and duct in the back of the freezer that pushes cold air down into the fridge. If the duct is blocked with ice or the fan motor has quit. Your freezer will work fine but the fridge will barely cool at all. Check that the fan runs when the compressor is running, ( turn both temp knobs to the highest cooling and leave door open until comp. comes on). If the fan runs your duct is plugged. If not you need a new " Freezer Fan Motor". Most are simple to replace and cost around $100.00.

Top of fridge not working

The top part of the fridge relies on cold air being forced up from the freezer section. The is a fan in the freezer that forces air into the "ducting" which channels the air to the fridge.
So either the fan is not working
Or the ducting is blocked
Either way you may need a technician to fix this problem

Have a HOTPOINT CTX18GI fridge. Automatic icemaker doesn't work, but don't know if it's the actual ice maker or any of the switches. Water is going to the line from the sink plumbing via a standard small...

Have you tried raising the arm of the ice maker and leaving it for awhile then push it back down and see if it will work? Should be a cover that is over the plug take the cover off and unplug the ice maker, shouldn't be that hard to take off. I believe you have to squeeze the top and bottom together to remove it but Im not positive.

My freezer is working but not the fridge? is it broken?

There are a number of fridge freezers which use a fan to circulate cold air from the freezer portion to the fridge. After a while the condensation freezes in the ducts and the air can't circulate. If your fridge is this type try defrosting the freezer.

Fridge not getting any air, freezer is working

I have a Kenmore w/ freezer on bottom. The top vent in the fridge is ducted to the freezer and is supposed to blow air. Mine was not.

I removed all the frozen goods and took off the back panel (inside to unit) which had a little ice on it. Underneath the panel was a solid wall of ice......including the motor which is supposed to blow air up to the 'fridge. I'd bet a beer that is your problem as well.

The ice seized motor will not be harmed because it is resistance loaded.

The best part is with a blow dryer and some elbow grease...the fix is free! I hope it helps.

Fridge/Freezer combo - Freezer working fine but fridge is not

There is a duct between the freezer and refrigerator. Sometimes this duct blocks off with ice and won't allow airflow. Open your refrigerator door and check for air flow if there is none the duct needs to be defrosted. turn off freezer/ refrigerator and defrost.

Hotpoint Mistral Frost Free Fridge freezer - fridge not getting cold

We have just had to call out an engineer to get our 1 1/2 year old Hotpoint Graphite Frost Free Fridge Freezer repaired. The fridge had almost entitely stopped cooling even when on high. I was amazed at how easily the problem was sorted. The engineer removed all the basktes from the freezer to access the screws on the inside backpanel of the freezer. Once this panel was removed it was clear that the so called Frost Free doesn't really mean what it says. The ice need to be melted with a bit of simple care. It is obvious that with a bit of care it is easliy a diy job BUT PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND READ THE NEXT PART BEFORE YOU BEGIN TO REMOVE THE ICE> The ice forms around variouys pipes etc and he usecd a screwdriver to help release the ice quicker than waiting for it to defrost and he also used a simple hairdryer to help speed up the process. He had a ntowel and a basin to take care of the water. Next time I would have no problem doing this myself but I would need to leave it a little while to defrost and NOT USE A SCREWDRIVER as I am sure somehow I would puncture a pipe or the wall of the freezer itself and I am quite used to doing the odd bit of DIY. On a difficulkty scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being difficult I would rate the job as about a 3. Hope this helps anyone who reads this about £70.
