All ice is the same...at or below 32FH is ice, above 32FH it's water
Perhaps your ice maker is making very small ice cubes that melt faster then bigger ice cubes, if so the your ice maker needs to be adjusted too make bigger ice cubes.

SOURCE: my cme 256a8 model scotsman ice melts to fast

There are a couple of things to check. The machine must be level. You can remove the front cover and the plastic sheet that covers the plate where the ice is made. Check to see that the water is flowing from the manifold at the top of the plate. You may have to pop the hose off the end of that manifold to clean the water holes out. It must flow evenly over the plate. Probably the most common problem is the radiator coil there the fan draws air through is clogged up so that it can't dissapate heat properly. You should be able to feel a lot of hot air moving through the coils. The fan cycles on and off periodically to maintain a certain pressure in the freon. That is normal. Clean the fan coils and level the machine.

Dce33a1bb ice maker makes ice but doesn't stay frozen

Poor draining of water in the ice bin will cause a high rate of ice melting, Remember this is not a freezer but an ice maker. If the machine is making ice OK but it is melting to fast then check to make sure the bin is draining all the melt off and not letting water stand in bin causing ice to melt fast.

Seems to make ice but will not keep it cold therefore it melts. It does this about 3 or 4 times a year but after staying off it will start working again

The only thing that keeps the ice cold is the ice itself. If the icemaker isn't making ice fast enough then the ice will melt before more ice drops to keep it cold. In other words the motor ice the slower the ice melts. Now if the door gasket isn't sealing properly then the ice could melt to fast. Also the ice is going to melt some and when it does the water has got to drain out the bottom. If the water doesn't drain the ice will be sitting in water and will speed up the melting process dramatically. I hope this helps!

ICE MAKER WILL NOT MAKE ICE

Good day,
The first thing to check is the freezer temperature. If it is allowed to go above 15 degrees the ice maker will lock out by design.
If the freezer is O.K. then follow these steps to isolate the problem.
First step is to take a small paper cup of water and fill the cavity until it is near full. With the ice maker turned on, close freezer door and wait 3 hours to see if it harvests. If not, the ice maker is bad, and must be replaced. If the cubes harvest then.......
Three possibilities.
1. The water supply from the house is not delivering water to the water valve. Shut off the house at the meter, disconnect the line going to the water valve, and with the line pointed into a bucket, have someone turn the valve back on for a 15 second count. The water should come out smartly. If not, the line and it's fittings will have to be replaced.
2. The fill tube from the back of the machine that feeds water into the back of the ice maker is frozen up. You will have to remove the ice maker to visually inspect that tube. If blocked, it needs to be defrosted, but use caution. Too much heat too fast will start to melt plastic and vinyl parts you don't want melted.
If this is the case, then once cleaned out, you will have to change the water valve located in the back bottom rear of the machine because it is leaking during the off cycle.
3. If everything checks O.K. up to this point, you will have to purchase and install a new water valve, and install it.
P.S. Under very rare occasions the electric circuity in the ice maker will fail to send a signal to the water valve. Although rare, it can happen, in which case the best option is to replace the ice maker and water valve.

GSH25JFRFWW evaporator fan makes loud deep noise at times

GE refrigerators have a faulty design, and so don't defrost completely, so ice builds up in the evaporator coils and on and in the evap. fan motor. Melting the ice will make the fridge more efficient, and the fan quiet again.

The slow, easy way to fix is take out all the food, unplug the fridge, leave doors open all day. Ice will melt, and all will be fine ... for a few months, until the ice builds up again. The fast way is here.

Ice maker stopped making ice. I had to melt ice

Jim, you will need to replace the heating element and most likely once this has been replaced, your ice maker should work properly unless the ice broke another part on your ice maker.

I would start with the heating element first.

Just contact us at:

http://www.fixya.com/repair/d499389-accurate_appliance_repair_service with your model number and we will get the correct part out to you asap!
We look forward to getting your ice maker working properly again soon!

Thanks, Ella

Ice maker will not make ice. no ice is being made. no water appears to be in ice cube making area. can hear a ticking noise from icemaker area

Carefully pour water from small glass into ice maker, until the cavity is near filled. Wait a few hours. If it dumps ice, you can usually rule out the ice maker.
If ice maker dumps, then it will be either a bad water valve, Ice building up in fill pipe going into the icemaker, or blocked water line that runs from your water source to the machine.
Caution. If the fill tube going into the ice maker is filled with ice do NOT
use heat such as a hair dryer to melt it. It will melt things you do not want to melt. If it is this problem, you must also replace the water valve because it is leaking slowly causing your problem.
Lastly, in rare cases, the microswitch in the ice maker fails and does not allow water to enter the icemaker.
