That error comes up when the computer cannot find the hard drive or any other device to boot from so it looks for a network booting program and when it cannot find that, the error shows up. REPLACE YOUR HARD DISK,

SOURCE: wont go past first screen

First try this unplug from AC, remove battery, plug in try to boot normally. If that fails Open BIOS, Boot Order or the BOOT MENU, Boot from HDD first, and save changes and reboot, if that fails try a system restore/recovery.

Error Message PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel PXE ROM. what does this mean?

That means your hard disk is not being detected. PXE is a network boot, which is typically used in business environments. Check your BIOS settings and ensure your hard disk is being detected. If it is, make sure your boot order is set correctly. Network boot (PXE) should be set to the last item in the sequence. If the hard disk is properly being detected and an OS is present, you should never see PXE.

If your hard disk is not showing up, power your PC down (unplug the power) and check the cables to make sure they are seated.

My gateway says "Check cable connection!PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel PXE ROM. No bootable device--insert boot disk and press any key". What should I do?

Sounds like the hard drive isn't getting power, the data cable to the drive isn't connected,or the drive controller on the motherboard is toast(I'm a novice tinkerer, not an expert).

I being asked to check cable connection pxe-mof exiting intel pxe rom operating system not found for atheros pcie ethernet controller v1.0.05

This usually means your hard drive has failed. You could try taking out and putting back the hard drive, there's a couple of screws on the base for the hard drive cover. 9 times out of 10 though, you will need a new hard drive.

You didn't list your PC model or make, but it appears that you have enabled the network card to boot from it's rom chip. Turn that option off in your software or pcie Bios control.
