I had this code come up on a double wall oven once and I fixed it myself for $200 less by ordering the part and using Repair Clinic.com for step-by-step instructions. It still cost me $100 + for the part and $65 for a serviceperson to tell me what I already knew (the code was F7) and it seemed confusing at first but I did it! Make sure to turn the electric off first from the fuse box!

Hi Kathryn, I believe that I have already sent you my solution via another route. Hope you received it. Basicaly for anyone else with this problem, it is caused by a short circuit envolving the ribbon cable which connects the touchpanel to the electronic control. The solution varies slightly depending on whether you have a metal or plastic touch panel. If you have a plastic touch panel, you need to add some extra insulation between the two pieces of ribbon cable in the slot where it exits the touchpanel. You need to slip it down as far into the slot as it will go. A piece of paper, a piece of file card, a thin piece of mylar will all work just fine. If you have a metal touchpanel, you need to insulate the edges of the slot as well with paper or mylar. Insulate both edges. If you don't have two sections to the ribbon cable, obviously you can't put insulation between the sections. If you have a plastic touch panel and only one section to the ribbon, you are out of luck. There is nothing you can do except to purchase a new touch panel. Cleaning the contacts is a myth. It doesn't help. Hope this helps. Please let me know your results. Contact me at [email protected]. Regards, Charlie

This usually indicates a stuck key, requiring keypad replacement.
This often involves replacing whole console assembly. You need full model a and serial to order parts.

I'm not sure what your problem is, but I have the same one. My stainless steel glass top model ?? is beeping all the time with error f7 on all the 4 tem control readouts. I'm guessing this is your problem as well. By turning the temp knobs it will stop, but sometimes restarts later for no reason. Other sites mention a ribbon cable on the touch controls (if yours has it, mine does ) that must be cleaned with rubbing alcohol. You turn off the power, and after unlocking the cable you clean the contacts with an easer and a q-tip w/rubbing alcohol. I don't know if this works but I might try it as the beeping is driving me crazy! The service techs will try and sell you about $450 in parts to fix the problem. This problem apparently has plagued these units for almost 10 years. Seems heat makes the cable get shorts at the contacts.
I HAVE NOT TRIED THIS YET so beware, but I had a short in my microwave and the site helped me fix a $500 control board for about 15 cents ( jumped a short on the board with a small wire!) Hope you get your problem fixed.

Send an e-mail to Charlie at [email protected] for a fix-it that you can try. He explains a possible solution fully with his 'The Dreaded "F7" Error' solution. I actually found his information on another website when I did a web search for "GE Profile Oven F7 Issue". I sent an e-mail to him and he replied with free fix-it information. I am not a repair person myself, but, his instructions are very clear and simple to follow. I did the fix-it at no cost in approximately 10 minutes and it has solved my problem so far.
My oven is also a JT950 and the builder installed it in our home back in 2000. Our F7 issue started about 2 years ago. For a few months, "clearing" the panel and/or shutting the oven off at the breaker panel would temporarily solve the problem. About 1 1/2 year ago, however, the F7 would come on and continually beep. A repairman looked at the oven and replaced the control panel at a cost of $600 (ugh...). That solved the problem until a month ago when the F7 continuous beeping began again. There was no way I was going to pay another $600. for "temporary" repair and I was thinking of replacing the oven. Luckily, I came across the above-mentioned fix-it information and took a chance by following the simple instructions provided.
