Whirlpool side by side has been leaking water about once/week and it's ice cold water. I noticed this right after I changed the water filter. Could that be the problem? I've already had two appliance techs out and they can't find anything wrong with it and I'm tired of paying for service calls and no results. Should I try a new filter to see if maybe that filter is defective?

i suspect that repair man got it wrong. ice may be blocking return duct to fridge. worth a chance to turn off for 24 hours with doors open then retry

IT IS PROBERLY THE HOLDING TANK / TUBES LEAKING TAKE LOWER CRISPERS OUT AND CHECK THERE ITS BEHIND THEM

When the filter freezes up, the outside casing may have cracked and will leak water when you dispense water through the door.  You will need to have the filter replaced and that should take care of the problem.  But the filter should never have frozen in the 1st place.  You will need to call a qualified LG technician to see what's going on inside the refrigerator.

The effort it would take to eliminate filter would be too much. Just leave filter in place. If new house filter is working right you should never have to replace fridge filter and your water will be double-filtered :)

Tania, if your unit is only 5 weeks old you should call an LG service co to repair in warranty. you shouldnt have I/M problems this early
