Stove will not light - Magic Chef 31000 Gas Kitchen Range

If your stove has an electrical cord then it will not light if the power is off. This is a safety gadget and after a number of years ago all stoves were made like this. The stoves with no cord should light with a match.

Please add the make and model number of the stove. Modern gas stoves and ranges do not have a pilot light. They light the gas with an electric spark. On these models, there is a knob setting for "Light" which triggers the spark. If there is no A/C voltage to the stove, you can use a match or butane lighter to light the stove with care.

I've found that the ignition system can fail if the burner caps are not seated properly. Debris in the burner area can also lead to the ignition spark problems. If you take off the burner cap and head (for some models), the electrode will be visible. Clean off any carbon build up on the electrodes for better sparks.

check the ground on your stove it looks like you have a feedback on the ground side which will not allow your light to go off

Some stoves have secondary fuses inside the stove. Check these fuses.

check for 220 volt to range

Oven was working, I had it on pre-heat, then I turned on the stove top, but the burners won't heat. When I turn on the stove top the stove makes a short BUZZ noise and the clock area lights up, when the burner is turned off all the lights go out. Please help, food prepared.

I have a GE Gas Stove XL44 the stove top buners don't light by themselves without manual lighting. When I turn on the buner knob the buner doesn't click. Also I used my self- cleaning oven for the first time and stopped it before the time was up after that is when the stove top buners wouldn't light by theirselves.

it sounds like it burnt one of your main wires in the back of range. by turning a knob on you are getting a feed back. turn the power off remove back panel take a visual check of your wiring.
