I have set the password for administrator when i entered the bios set up. you can change its setting but not the configuration unless you've entered the password. you can't change the password with a new one if you cant enter the old password. Next time dont forget your password because laptops has its security even when stolen you cant open its bios set up if its protected by password. CMOS battery is in the mother board. You need a service technician to open your laptop to reset the bios setup battery.

One of the ways around it is to remove the CMOS battery on the mother board and wait about 10 minutes before putting it back in, but if its the companies that's your decision..it'll reset BIOS and clear the password..you can't use any password cracking software because it doesn't boot up enough to recognize your CD drive.

BIOS upgrades are USUALLY done in DOS. Most times, you need to boot from a floppy or CD that is specific for BIOS upgrade. Some BIOS upgrade software may be apllied through Windows, but this depends on your computer manufacturer.
BTW, if your computer is running ok, DO NOT MESS UP WITH THE BIOS. You may risk ruining your laptop.
