The door will not open when pushing the button. The button to open the door pushes in easily with no resistance. I think the spring might be broken inside.

Turntable turning and light on sounds like door not closing properly or door switch problems, but that should not make panel black when door not closing right. How about the hooks sticking out of the door. are they both there and do yours move like they have a spring on them?? That has to go into the unit and push the door switches. Or may have a broken door switch
One of the door latch arms or the latching mechanism inside the oven have broken. you may have to buy a complete door lock / latching assembly . Might not be worth it. Check with your nearest parts supplier.
Usually this can be done easily by removing the door unit and removing the panel to the door wherein you will be able to get access to the door lock. If there is no damage to the pivot or the post to hold the lock and spring , you can push the spring and reset.
Do not pry the door open since there is an easier remedy which will lead you in the direction that you need to fix your problem. Take the cover off after you disconnect the power to it. Once you have taken the cover off (only a few screws) you will be able to see the two latches that hold the door closed and the link that opens both of them. You can just lift both latches at the same time and it will open. After you have done that take a good look and press in on the open door button and you will see where you have the problem of the door hanging. That button should push a linkage that pushes up on both latches at once to open the door. It is spring loaded so that it comes back down so that when you close the door it will hold the door close. You need to take the cover off the microwave so that you can pull both of the latches that hold the door closed up. When you push the button in it engages a linkage that pushes both taches up at the same time to open the door. It is springloaded and will come back down during normal operation to hold the door closed when you close it again. That area is where your problem is. By looking at what happens when you press the open door button you should be able to readily see where the problem lies in that linkage
sound likes the push button spring broke or popped out of place. if you unplug unit remove all screws going around the back edges. take panel off all the way around ,then you will be able to check spring and bbutton. the ones ive worked on the puch button cradle is usually broken and can be replaced as long as its not 20-30 yrs old.do it yourself 15-30 dollars in shop repair 65-95, in home service around 85-145.00 dollars. depending were you live.
Most microwave ovens have catches that are shaped like hooks, these hooks catch on a fixed bolt or a raise in the frame of the oven.
The next time you get the oven open check these hooks to see if the springs are working in a strong positive manner, or if you have to push a button on the model check to see that the button releases the hooks.
If you push in on the open door button and it just goes in and does not open the door, then the problem is that the plastic piece that actually opens the door has broken. You can verify this by removing the cover from the microwave and look inside. If you are handy just buy the part from the panasonic parts store in your city and replace it. If not take it in and they will replace it for you.
