Need to change the language on my laptop.

it depends on which operating system you have. If you open control panel you should look ror region and language settings and follow instructions.

"Did it change to a Euro, or exclamation sign? You possibly pressed the Fn button with one of the keys that have (usually) a blue descriptor/icon. Or, a Windows "feature" is that you can change languages by pressing Alt + SHIFT simultaneously. To turn off this feature:

1. Near the bottom right of the screen might be an icon of a keyboard. Left click and select US keyboard if it's set to another language. This turns it off but it doesn't prevent it from getting switched again.

2. The permanent fix is to disable the key combination. There's two ways to do this. Right-click on the keyboard icon and click "Settings". Select the "Advanced Key Settings" tab. Click the "Change Key Sequence" button and select "not assigned". Click OK a few times and you're done.

3. If you cannot locate the keyboard icon you can get at this through the Control Panel. Go to Regional and Language control panel. Select the "Keyboards and Languages" tab and click the "change keyboards" button. This takes you to the language settings described in step 2 above.

Goto setting > control panel > regional settings There is you can change your country and language In advanced tab> details. you can change keyboard also

I think if the langauge of the OS is set to italiana,you need to reformat and then choose english as an main language.

reset your phone settings it will be change everything to normal

This is not a solution, but it seem ACER introduced these special characters which can be switched by a combination of keystrokes they have not documented. These keystrokes can be pressed by accident and since they are not documented the only way to return to the normal keyboard is rebooting.
ACER seems not to care as I have sent at least 5 emails requesting a solution as well a solution to another annoying problem but I never received a response.
For sure I will never buy (I have 3 Acer Laptops) another ACER machine.

Yes you are right: it is a one time option. You can however install other languages. You will switch from the Canadian French keyboard to the US or English Canadian keyboard by pressing Shift Alt. You will console yourself if I told you that I type mainly in French, but the physical keyboard is US and I cannot even use the Alt + Ascii code to put the accents where due, because the laptop does not have numeric pad.

Usually when you change the language, there are 3 options at the bottom of the window
1. OK
2.Cancel/Back
3.Apply

Click on Apply first and then wait to let the system take effect of the operation and then click on OK and restart the computer

Open Regional and Language Options by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Clock, Language, and Region and then clicking Regional and Language Options.
Click the Keyboards and Languages tab.
Under Display language, choose a language from the list, and then click OK.
Obviously you'll have to work out the French equivalents of the options but should be fairly obvious

knowing the error you received would be handy... be that as it may boot up and tap the F8 key as it's booting... boot into safe mode or last known good configuration.
