Fault to the main power supply regulator section. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

Hi, I have a Samsung LN40A550 LCD TV which I have had for just over a year. ... Had the same issue, your circuit board is dying. You will need to get it replaced it should be aroudn $150. Check angieslist for a reptuable tech.

0ne of 3 has failed:
(in order of probability):

1. Backlight inverter
2. Power Supply
3. Backlight

Please seek the expertise of an experienced TV repair technician - as they contain potentially lethal voltages that must be properly discharged before work can begin.

can you see that a capicitor 820/10v is pluked ? replace it.

You got sound meaning the power supply and mainboard have no problem at all. Look at the back, have you seen back light lit up?
If there is light, the problem may come from T-con board.
If there is no light so the inverter board has defective.
