Skips when playing disc, may go from track one to track ten for no reason.

It sounds like you have the cd on random or shuffle. Look to see if you have a button marked rdm or shuf or some variation of that. If so, try pressing that button to see if random/shuffle turns off.

What means shuf

That's short for "shuffle". In shuffle play, the player randomly picks a track from the CD to play, so you don't know which one is coming up next. On some Sony models with multiple-CD players, shuffling also randomly picks one of the discs as well as a random track. I don't know if yours is one of them, though.

My cd player does not play music in order, instead of 123...it skips to 5 than 8 etc.

There's a control under PLAY MODE that selects random play labeled "1 DISC SHUF". Normal play would be "ALBM". Read the manual.

Hello, I have a CDX-GT610UI Song Car stereo. I was just wanted to know when using the USB slot to play music what controls the order of the music? Thanks, Jason

For future reference, the manual can be found at this link

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-documents.pl?mdl=CDXGT610UI

On page 10 of the manual, the controls for mass storage device playback are as follows:

3 (REP)
4 (SHUF)

Press 3 or 4 repeatebly until the proper selection is displayed.

You can select Repeat Track or Album with 3.
You can select Shuffle Album or Device with 4.

To turn off the repeat or shuffle, click the appropriate button (3) or (4) until Off appears then the songs are played in the order they are found on the device.

How do I change the station it picks up on? I'm using the RF thing and I am getting interference from a local station

Press the "suf/rep" button for 2 seconds until frequency appears, press Disc + or Disc - to change frequency, press shuf/rep for two seconds to save/exit.

Random play on cd seems to have started is there a control function for this, or has it just gone a bit random.

there is usually a random button on most radios. it should be marked either rdm or shuf. not knowing what radio you have, makes it rather hard to say. you would get a much better response if you supply more information, such as what brand and model the radio is, or at least what kind of car it is in.

Same Problem: CD flashes 'door', but will NOT play CD

What do you mean by not ANY CD? Does it mean that you can play some CDs while others can't? If it can't play any CD at all, it might be that the sensor for the CD tray is not working. It is not recommended to change the sensor yourself. Since you have contacted the service department of the player, give them 2-3 working days to get back to you.
