Presumably neither of you has or knows how to adjust your bobbin tension so, I'm going to presume it's your hook. Make sure you are threading the machine coorectly then you'll need to remove your needle plate by removing the two screws, pull out your hook (this is the part your bobbin sits in) but make sure you note which way it sits inside your machine. Have a look at the plastic hook for any sharp edges or burs, you may need to replace your hook or try and gently sand (400grit) the plastic if possible. The key part of the hook is the small blunted point as this is what catched the loop of thread behind the needle. Please make sure that when you put your hook back in, that it is on the left side of that little guard sticking out on the lower right of your machine.

It sounds like your machine needs to be cleaned and oiled.

Here is a website with much useful information for machine sewers.

SOURCE: I have just started learning how to quilt and I

The foot is attached as normal, but when you're attaching it, the fork-shaped part that sticks out of the right-hand-side has to be hooked around the round pillar sticking out horizontally from the right-hand-side of the needle bar and that holds the needle securing screw. When the foot is down, you will see that the upwards motion of the needle bar raises the upper set of feed dogs on the walking foot - the whole purpose of the walking foot is to provide, effectively, a set of feed dogs on the top of the material as well as the toothed ones below the stitch plate - this allows multilayered or thick materials to be sewn as when doing quilting.

Will the Singer model 384 do quilting and if so, which foot is required?

Most any straight stitch machine can do quilting. You can find an 'even-feed' /walking/quilting foot in most shops that will fit a low-shank machine. This type of foot is designed to 'walk' on top of the fabric so that foot pressure does not separate the layers when the feed dogs work on the bottom of your quilt.

How do I attach the quilting bar to the walking foot on my Simplicity Quilters Classic? The manual doesn't show how to do it

There should be a hole across the back of the walking foot (penetrates the walking foot usually from right to left, although some feet will have 2 guides--one for left to right, the other left to right) where the bar mounts and a screw to tighten and hold it in place.

HV sapphire 930 not feeding properly

When stitching together a quilt sandwich, it is recommended to use a walking foot on your machine. The walking foot moves the upper fabric in conjunction with the feed dogs. Sometimes, if the quilt sandwich is not too thick, a roller foot can also help but may not be sufficient for a quilt sandwich.

You may also check the presser foot pressure on your machine. This regulates the amount of pressure the presser foot applies to the fabric and the feed dogs. If the pressure is too strong, it will tend to push the upper layers of fabric, creating a bubble look. If the pressure is too loose, there is not enough pressure for the feed dogs to physically pull entire quilt sandwich under the presser foot.
(The pressure is adjustable depending on the types of fabric and thicknesses being sewn.)

My Aurora 440 is not feeding my quilted fabric through when stitching?

You probably need to adjust the presser foot pressure (see your owner's manual) and install a walking foot.

Why do stitches bunch when using walking foot on 3 layers of quilting fabric?

make sure that the thread tensions are correct for the thickness of material
remember that only the bottom foot walks and draws the material through so it may need a help and be pulled as it sews.

How to attach a quilt guide

You have to unscrew the screw for the presser foot first. The walking foot will then fit. Use the same screw to attach the walking foot. Before you insert the screw, take the white handle on the walking foot and slide it on the screw arm for the needle. Now tighten the screw.

Machine quilting

Difficult to be definitive without specific model information, but......
Generally a "walking foot" will suit this best, as it grips the work on both sides and moves it all through evenly, using an ordinary style foot may mean the layers of fabric and batting shift relative to each other and bunching uneven results will occur, even with careful ststegic pinning.......speak to the dealer for your brand and quote the model you have to ask if they can supply one to suit.
As a guide, a Janome walking foot in Australi is around $AUD 65 retail

NOTE: Not all machines are able to take these feet, especially older and low end models.

Stitches

Usually a walking foot is for straight forward stitching only.It keeps the many layers from shifting for you. The "hand-look" quilting takes a couple stitches forward then one back. If you look close, you will see about every other stitch is thicker and stands out more.
