SOURCE: connect belkin f5d7130 to homehub 1.5

You need to connect all pc's and homehub to a switch so they can talk to one another. Then use the AP as a wireless access point to connect all wireless laptops, and connect the AP to the switch with ethernet cable, and you have a network. Just make sure that only your HH or AP supplies IP addresses or they will clash.

I cannot connect to my belkin connect n150 router after enabling it as an access point. Green light shows up on router and wireless network shows up but no connection when clicked. I cant connect via

Pretty sure you have to have at least one router in gateway mode to connect to the internet. An AP allows wireless devices to connect to a wired segment. The same as a router in gateway mode. AP mode has the benefit of extending a networks wireless range. If this is your only device leave it in gateway mode.

How do I set up my wireless Belkin F5D7050, I no longer have the CD. My computer has Windows Vista?

1. Hard wire your pc to the router/modem using ethernet cord / cat 5 cable or use usb storage to download the driver to this link

http://web.belkin.com/support/article/?lid=en&pid=F5D7050&aid=5381&scid=0

2. Install the driver/software by executing the file.

then follow this:

SymptomNot able to go online only with the wireless connection.
ResolutionTo address the problem, use the following steps:
  1. On the Belkin Wireless monitor utility click on the tab AP List .
  2. Select the encrypted network that you wish to join. Click Connect.
  3. This will take you to the New Profile page . Enter a Profile Name .
  4. On the next page, you will see the network name, the network type and the transmit rate. Click Next.
  5. This will take you to the page that will ask you to select the Authentication Mode. This will be OFF by default. Select Open System or Shared Key depending on the network.
  6. Then select 64-bit or 128-bit encryption depending on the configuration on the Router/AP. Click Next.
  7. On the next page, select Input Method , which will be Hexadecimal (0-9,A-F) or Passphrase.
  8. Select the key index and enter the keys or the passphrase depending on the configuration on the router/AP. Click Complete.
CauseYou are not able to connect to a secured wireless network because the router/AP (what is this?) is encrypted.
SummaryWireless networks by their very nature are not secure because data is transmitted across open (i.e., air) media. This allows unintended “listeners” to receive the data. WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) is used in a wireless network to secure the signals and hence the data.

Belkin 54g Wireless connection problem.

This is more of an explanation then a solution, but to best explain what to do I have to first explain why this is happening. When you add security to a wireless router or ap you add extra envelopes to the packets of info being transferred, adding encryption to that makes it much slower because the ap has to encode all packets coming to you and un-encode all packets being sent to the Internet. In our time this happens very quickly, but in computer time I just described a lifetime. In addition if your signal is not 100% you might have packet loss "more slow down". Now the answer, in your ap setup pages you can setup wireless security, set this to Mac address authenication and add the mac addresses of all the network cards that have access to this ap. This is by far the fastest methiod of secure data transfer.

Hope this was some help...

Unable to get connected to Belkin f5d6130 AP

Hi,

You need to be connected using  wired Ethernet (PC's LAN card to Router's Ethernet Port (at the back)).  This is the preferable INITIAL way to configure the router before going wireless. Also it would be to your advantage to initially set your PC (that will be used for configuring the router)  to "Specify an IP address" (static settings) and not "Obtain an IP address automatically."

For a PC connected via UTP networking cable attached to a Belkin F5D6130 AP, the networking settings could be:
IP Address 192.168.2.2
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway 19*2.168.2.1
DNS Server 192.168.2.1
Reboot

Post back results. Good luck and kind regards.

What is WDS?

Wireless Distribution System (WDS) allows you to make a completely wireless infrastructure. Normally, the access points must be connected with a wire (LAN). These access points create cells allowing a wireless connection. The WDS feature allows the access points to be wirelessly connected. This feature is normally used in large, open areas where pulling a wire is restricted or not cost effective and in residential circumstances. If the structure utilizing an access point is too large to cover using one AP, a second AP would be used as a wireless repeater. The WDS has forwarding functionality for extending the range of an AP. By setting up an extended service set (ESS) between access points. Stations can intersect with any AP of this ESS and move between the coverage of both APs while the higher layer network connection remains intact.
