If when you turn your dehumidifier on the compressor runs then you should get moisture. Dehumidifiers work on the same principal as refrigeration. There is a bad control switch or the compressor start relay or capacitor is defective. If compressor runs and there is no effect then that is another problem. The filter should come out the front where the air goes in front and the filter should be washed by hand in warm degrease detergent water, dry and replace. If the disposable type filter I will help you contact LG.Thanks, Sea Breeze

Kenmore dehumidifier compressor on but doesn't collect water

clean the condenser in the front or the filter if it has one. no air flow to cool it down will result in overheating and no condensation collection across the evaporator coil.

My humidifier runs continuosly, but is not collecting any water. When I touch the right side, where I imagine the motor is located, it feels very warm. I have unplugged it for a few days, then tried...

There are 4 basic, yet solvable reasons for what you described. Please pay particular attention to numbers 1 & 2..

1. The humidity extraction level is set to HIGH. Lower it to 32-35%.

2. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, & Unplug the
Unit, before removing to inspect & clean it, if necessary. If washed,
allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate
the unit without the filter in place. As it could damage the unit.

3. Obstructed air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" of clear air
space around the entire unit.

4. Cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Use warm water & dish washing liquid to
clean the coils. Rinse and wipe dry. Apply a light coating of WD40 to the coils.

If none of the above solves the problem, it may be a case of the compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas or that the humidity sensor may have failed. These things usually occur in units that are 5 years old or older. It's rare in a unit younger than that. But, it can happen.

I hope this helps you to troubleshoot & solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Hi. Our dehumidifier is kept in the basement. It collected water for about three years. Now it runs but does not collect water. I cleaned the filter, took the water bin out and put it back in, but it...

Gweinstock1, there are 5 basic, but solvable reason for what you described. Please pay particular attention to numbers 1 & 2.

1. The humidity extraction level is set to HIGH. Lower it to 32-35%.If you unit does not have an
LED screen on the control panel, turn the manual control to Maximum.

2. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, & Unplug the
Unit, before removing to inspect & clean it, if necessary. If washed,
allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate
the unit without the filter.

5. Ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 - 60 degrees.
Dehumidifiers do not work well between those temperatures
(Unless, you have a Low Temp Unit). This applies mainly to
where the air temperature at floor level is colder than at shoulder
level
in basement applications. Raising the unit up off the floor,
onto a sturdy table, counter top, etc, that can handle the weight
of the unit, plus a full tank of water, will usually resolve this
problem.

If none of the above solves the problem, it may be a case of the compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas or that the humidity condenser sensor has failed. These things usually occur in units that are 5 years old or older. It's rare in a unit younger than that. But, it can happen.

Hope this helps you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

My lg dehumidifier is collecting ice on top and no water is collecting in waste. Is it dead? this is a new problem but machine is not old

Sounds as if the air filter may be clogged, which causes the coils to freeze. Unplug the unit and allow it to thaw. Once thawed, follow the Owners Manual"s instructions on accessing, removal and cleaning of the air filter. That should solve your problem.

No water in container

I have this model, and mine failed after 2 years. Fortunately it has a 5 year warranty on it. If you haven't cleaned the filter in the front, do that first. Take the bucket out, and then you can pull the filter down. In my case, I was getting an ice block on the front coils, and the warranty place determined it was a bad compressor. LG sent a refurbished model as a replacement for my broken one, and then I had to ship the bad one back in the box they provided. They also provided a return shipping label.

I've had the lg LHD45EL Dehumidifier for about 1.5 years now. I have used it every spring/summer. I turned it on this year and it runs but the water does not collect. Obviously something is wrong any idea...

I found the same thing. I've had my LHD45EL for 2 or 3 years. Worked great for my basement. This year I hear it run, but it doesn't collect water. I cleaned the filter and of course nothing. I took the back cover off, and tried running it. The condenser runs, but the copper tube leading up to the coil doesn't get cold. My guess is that the freon (or whatever refrigerant they are using) has leaked out. There doesn't appear to be any way to recharge it, the original tube has been crimped and soldered. Looks like junking it and buying a new one is the only option unless someone is good with a torch and solder. My question is whether to go LG or not.

Doesn't collect water, freezes on top

clean filter and then check the coil behind the filter to see if clean. Biggest things that freeze a unit are dirty filter or coil...or low on freon.

LG LD65EL dehumidifier will not collect water

Make sure the filter is clean and also make sure the coils are cleaned. If these are clogged they will restrict airflow which will cause the coils not to remove the humidity from the air. LG recommends that you clean the air filter every 2 weeks. They also include a brush to clean the coils. If this still does not work you will need to contact LG for service or a replacement. They have a 5 year warranty on them so the ones that you guys have should still be under warranty. Make sure that you have your reciept when you contact them to prove that it is still under warranty. Keep me posted. Also please rate my solution when you get a chance. Thanks - Tech101

Does not collect water

ok Carmo

first remove the back of the unit and turn it on. it sounds like the fan motor may not be working.there by making the dehum get hot. make sure your filter and coils are cleaned. you may need a new motor. if so buy a new motor and fan blade.be careful with the 5/16th nut holding the fan blade. the blade might look good but you have to check the hole where it rides on the motor shaft. if you into the hole it should look like the letter "D" because the motor shat is shaped that way.---good luck
