jumptrout51 is correct with the the round ignitor. Using a clamp on digital ampmeter, you should see the amperage use go from zero to at least 2.5 amps after you turn on the broil, then gas valve should open. (the flat ignitors actually require at least a 3.2 amp minimum) Very unlikely the electronic control has anything to do with your problem. Low voltage is not real likely if the oven ignitor is working. Most likely you have a bad ignitor or a poor electrical connection.
hello mam
the ignitors may go wrong after using for number of times so change the ignitors and also check if there are any batteries for each ignitor if so please change the batteries.
While the ignitor is glowing, tap on the valve with the plastic handle of a large screwdriver. If the burner lights the ignitor is weak and needs replaced. If it does not the valve is bad and it is advisable to change the ignitor also although not required. Eric
Hi, Even tho the ignitor is glowing, it could be bad. The ignitors get weak and will not open the gas valve. This is a very common issue with the gas ranges. I would change the ignitor. I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.
Do you have 120 between ignitor feeds/wires?if not put a jumper between 2 connections on gas valve,.If ignitor comes on ,bad valve .if not bad tstat/control issue
Most gas ranges only have one ignitor (for the burners), so if one of the burners is not working, I would inspect the connection between the ignitor and the burner...not the igniter itself.
I think you are talking about the oven safety valve or thermal valve. before you change you oven safety valve, I would check the Amperage on the oven ignitor first, install AMP meter on one of the ignitor wire, it should draw above 3AMPs, if not then you have problem with the oven ignitor and not the safety valve. we hardly change the safety valve, I'll try to change the ignitor first. Have fun.
Bad oven ignitor, to check it, turn on the oven, check Voltage on 2 ignitor wires, it should have approx. 110v, if yes, change the oven ignitor, if not then check oven safety valve of oven thermostat, but 90% is the oven thermostat. also make sure the oven tube is not corroded at the ignitor area, if so, change the oven at the same time. Have fun.
