Uniden TCX905 cCordess phone Handsets # 3 and 4

Uniden TCX905 Cordless phone Handsets # 3 and 4 will not register with my TRU9466 base. The manual recommends ''Resetting'' the handsets by holding down the [end call] and [#] keys for more than 5 seconds until the SYSTEM RESET menu appears. When I do this on wither of the new handsets the menu never appears. How can I get these handsets reset?

If the handsets are not currently registered to any base, the SYSTEM RESET menu won't appear.

If the TCX905 handsets in question are actually expansion handsets from another Uniden Phone System, they are not true TCX905 handsets. To verify, remove the battery cover and battery, then look at the inside label. If it lists the model of a TRU9xxx phone system, your handsets are NOT TCX905.

Uniden unfortunately has programmed the expansion handsets from SINGLE LINE TRU9xxx phone systems to NOT REGISTER against the TRU9466. (Those same handsets register fine against predecessor model TRU8866 though).

I have a TRU9466 with 10 handsets. 3 of these hand sets have quit working. I have the correct replacements but the base will not accept any more units. (limit 10). Hence the issue, since the original HS...

As far as I know you can't deregister all of the handsets at once. However, if you know the handset numbers of your good handsets, you can exclude them and deregister the others one at a time. Press and hold Call End and # for more than 5 seconds on a working handset. Select DEREGISTER HS and press the OK soft key. Scroll down to select a handset number when you see the Which HS? prompt. Select Yes and press the OK soft key. Repeat the Yes and OK at the "Are you sure?" prompt. Press Call End. Press Menu and select Deregistration. Press the OK soft key. Then select Yes and press the OK soft key when you get another "Are you sure?" prompt. This is shown on page 61 of the manual. You can find the manual here: http://www.telecomuserguides.com/manuals/filesupload/Uniden/5_8GHz_Digital/TRU9466om.pdf .

I hope this helps.

(Since the method above works for lost handsets, it should work for handsets that can not communicate with the base.)

I bought some handsets but they were registered to another base. How do I deregister without the base

First, select Deregister HS from the main menu. Secondly, press the red phone button and the # key simultaneously for about 5 seconds to finish deregistration. You will then see a message telling you to place the phone in the cradle of the base unit to register it to your unit. An "operation complete" message will confirm that the handset is now registered and ready to use. Good luck.

Phone message reads

If you are not too far away-not "out of range" then try rehoming/pairing the handset with the base unit. You probably need the phones together to do this. Your manual will explain how-it will have been done in the original setup.

I need to deregister missing handset #1

To de-register HANDSET #1:

1) Grab any working handset which is registered to your base (so HANDSET #2 or #3 in your case)

2) Press and hold the "END" + "#" key for 5+ seconds (wait for it to beep)

3) Choose the "Deregister HS" menu option

4) Pick HANDSET #1 as the handset ot de-register (since that's the "phantom" registered handset)

5) Once de-registered, you can de-register handsets #2 and #3 directly from each handset's "normal" menu interface (i.e. press "Menu", choose "Deregistration")

6) Thereafter, if you re-register your handset, they should start at HANDSET #1, then #2, and so on.

How to remove Uniden handset from base

The brillian people at Uniden don't feel it necessary to provide this type information in their manuals. You have to trial and error to find it, but what can you do. All you have to do to reset the base unit itself is to unplug the power, then while holding down the delete key, plug it back in. Hold the delete button down until you hear a beep, which indicates it has reset. Now you can readd handsets and they will start at 1.

Tru 9496

SOLUTION:

1. First, remove the battery cover on your unregistered TCX905 and look under the battery to confirm that you indeed purchased a TCX905 because some Uniden handsets were packaged as 905's but were not.

2. Take the fully charged unregistered 905 to the base unit TRU9496.

3. On the TRU 9496 base unit press "Menu" then select "Registration" and press OK

4. You should get the message "press the # key on the remote handset".

5. Depress the "#" key on the unregistered 905 and it should register.

Uniden handset TCX905 with base unit TRU8866-if compatible?

I just successfully registered 4 TCX905s with my TRU8865 base - it's documented in the TCX905 manual.

Be sure the handset you want to register is fully charged.

Remove the handset you want to register from its charger.

Now unplug the AC for the main base, hold down the 'find handset' key on the base and plug the AC in again, when it beeps, you can let go of that button.

Hold down the '#' on the handset you want to register, it will show 'Registering Handset...' and when it beeps, it's done - registered, you're good to go :)
