was there anything that has led to this, e.g. Lighting hit the house, liquid was spilled or something of that sort?

Television wont turn on it is making a clicking noise as if it is going to turn on but it doesnt we have tried the remote and unpugging the replugging but does not seem to work is there another way i could...

that clicking noise is from relay switching on, but it will turn off when detecting for a short ckt. we need to remove back cover and trace for possible burn or open parts.

TV keeps clicking on and off and doesn't come on.

When a TV is clicking on the back and it doesn't turn on its most likely the ballast, the clicking you hear is the ballast trying to turn the lamp on, but apparently it's doesn't have the enough power to send the amount of voltage that the lamp requires to turn on. So you might have to change the ballast board for your TV to work. Please contact me if you have any other question!! (:

The standby keeps flashing but the power doesn't turn on

Is it a Sony?.That is usually caused by one of the two switching transistors. They are a matching pair.Test your HOT and those transistors.I'll bet one is bad. Let me know. - edcarson
