Got wrong cartridge error message on LCD screen. Have uninstalled and reinstalled print driver, no good. Suspect dirty printhead. Read advice here to clean printhead. I cannot access printhead as it is stuck on the right side of carriage and will not move to center so I can get at it. How do I get the printhead out?

Rover,
There in is the problem, these cartridges are not made to be refilled. You are lucky to have got away with this for this long. The most likely scenario is that your printhead has now failed which is why it will not recognise your cartridge.
The first thing you might try is to go out and buy a new cartridge. If this fails, then you will need to replace the print head. In this case, you would be better off calling it quits and getting yourself a new printer.
I am sorry if this is not all that you want to hear, but that is the facts and I would be doing you an injustice to tell you otherwise.

your printer ink cartridge can not access (move to middle) when you open up the cover, you may try
1) try to open right side cover you move the cartridge by hand (power off) to middle position, then take out the cartridge and reinstall it then power on, the cartridge moving right, you may open up the cover again if the cartridge go back the middle position which means your printer works normal. still stop moving go next
2) check the cartridge initcial sensor at righe side, the cartridge moving to the end of right should be touch this sensor, find out it and check there is good touch (click) by the cartridge body. adjust the sensor position maybe needed.
3) cartridge is stucked sometime also check the cartridge moving rail hard moving, need to drop oil to lubricate.

remove all cartridges leaving printhead intact.
close cover, turn off
turn on, let power up, error message should be gone.
open cover, reinstall cartridges
if you cleaned your print head like I did you'll probly
eventually end up getting a new one anyway, due to the color variations
but I can at least print text.

its not a true fix but I had the same issue. I turned off printer and slightly moved the paper thickness lever over a few inches. I turned it back on and the cartridge error was off. I do get a pop up from my printer program on the computer every time I initiate a print job asking to correct the lever, I click OK and it prints. I know its aRube Goldberg fix but I need this printer every day for work and for now it works.
