Scotsman sce275a-1h The high school where I work owns a scotsman sce275a-1h ice maker. It is displaying the water diagnostic error with the bin full light on. There is no water or ice in the bin. I've tried running a clean cycle using CLR for about an hour with no improvement. I had it serviced about a month or so ago for a number of other issues (it was also cleaned) and I would rather not have to call them back in if I can fix this myself. Thanks for any advice

Replace the din full sensors this will let the ice machine start up if the sump tray dose not start to fill up with water look at board to see if water full light is on if so replace water sensor that is in water sump tray. if light is not on then check to see if you are getting power to water valve if you are getting voltage to valve then check water filter dose it need to be replaced. now never use any thing other than ice machine cleaner made for ice machines it has to be nickle safe are you will dammage the evaporator plate.

These units have a real problem with the bin controls. I can't begin to tell you how bad. There are two - for lack of a better term - paddles - that are basically just pushed into the left and right side of the drop area that have small lenses in them with a low level beam that when broken indicates a full bin. You have to reach in from under the bin opening and feel to the left and right, pull the paddles toward the middle and there should be enough slack on the wires to get a good hold of them and clean the lenses with a Q-tip soaked in grapefruit juice. Pop them back in and try them - if that doesn't work (and sorry but most of the time it doesn't) then they will have to be replaced.

SOURCE: WATER KEEPS RUNNING AND IT

the timer does not start turning until the liguid line reaches a certain temp. Thats how the ice thickness works on that model. Check your ice thickness switch when it gets cold enough contacts should close and timer should start to turn.

MY ICE MACHINE ONLY MAKES ICE ON THE BOTTOM HALF OF THE PLATE

There can be a few reasons why your Scotsman SCE275A-1H ice machine is only making ice on the bottom half of the plate:
  1. Water flow: Check the water flow to the machine. The water pressure should be between 20 and 120 psi. Make sure that the water supply is turned on and that there are no clogs in the water supply line or water filter.
  2. Water distribution: Make sure that water is properly distributed across the entire plate. The water distribution system may be clogged or malfunctioning.
  3. Evaporator: The evaporator is responsible for freezing the water. If the evaporator is dirty or coated with ice, it may not be functioning properly. Clean the evaporator and check for any signs of damage.
  4. Refrigerant levels: low refrigerant levels can cause the evaporator to freeze over, which can affect ice production. Make sure the refrigerant level is adequate.
  5. Airflow: Make sure that the airflow to the machine is not restricted. If the airflow is restricted, the ice machine may not be able to properly cool the refrigerant, which can affect ice production.
It's best to consult the user manual or to contact a professional technician to diagnose the problem, as the issue could be caused by a number of things and it's important to troubleshoot it correctly. The technician will be able to run a diagnostic test to determine the root cause of the problem and make the necessary repairs.

Scotsman AFE400 ice machine not turning off when bin full

There can be a few reasons why your Scotsman SCE275A-1H ice machine is not turning off when the bin is full:
  1. Bin level sensor: The bin level sensor is responsible for detecting when the ice bin is full. Make sure that the sensor is properly connected to the control board and that it is not damaged. Also, check if the sensor has been replaced with the proper one for your model of icemaker.
  2. Control board: The control board controls the operation of the ice maker, Make sure that the control board is properly connected to the power source and that it is not damaged. It's possible that the control board is malfunctioning, which can cause the ice maker to not turn off when the bin is full.
  3. Wiring: Make sure that all the wiring connections between the different components of the machine are securely connected and not damaged.
  4. Air filter: Ensure that the air filter is clean and not clogged, this can cause the machine to overheat and not turn off.
  5. Control switch: The control switch may be faulty, preventing the machine from turning off. If this is the case, the switch will need to be repaired or replaced.
It's best to consult the user manual or to contact a professional technician to diagnose the problem, as the issue could be caused by a number of things and it's important to troubleshoot it correctly. The technician will be able to run a diagnostic test to determine the root cause of the problem and make the necessary repairs.

It says harvest time maxed and no ice detected what tells machine to stop havest

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

Download this manual and read page 19 carefully.

http://www.scotsman-ice.com/docs/uploaded/sct/manual/275m.pdf

I think you have a thermistor problem. But... there are several things that will cause the 8 minute max harvest time error. See the diagnostic lights chart on page 19.

Diagnostic Lights:

There are two RED diagnostic lights, one to indicate a water problem, and the other to indicate a refrigeration problem.

Both On all the time / Check for thermistor set unplugged or failed

Additionally see the troubleshooting chart on page 27 "Unit OFF for a harvest problem"

Also make sure to read page 15. The thermistor inputs are on connector #5 left side of the controller

Resets:

Note: The machine may be reset and restarted by

pushing and releasing the Off push button switch,

and then pushing and releasing the freeze push
button switch.

Lastly after a RESET read the initial start up procedures on page 12 right side with regards to the harvest cycle steps 1 - 8.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly
