. I have a Panasonic Cordless Phone KX-TG 2632 AL.One of the handsets of my cordless phone is not working. It displays 'Move closer to base' when I try to operate it. When I try to register it manually it says 'error'. The other handset is working without problems. Any ideas on what could be the fault. Thanks for your help. No link to base; move closer to base is what I get when I try ti turn on the phone. I tried holding down the handset locator button till the charge light flashed then I held down the flahs/call waiting button on the phone until the screen says Handset registering. Then it says error. I did this twice. Several months ago, I had this problem & was able to find the solution on your help site but this is not what it said to do & I can't remember what it did say. Why does this have to be so hard?

Hi, same thing for me. Solution, unplug power on base first for about 10 seconds.
Then plug base power back in and try re-registering via method explained. this worked first time.

To re-register the phone, hold down the "handset locator" button on the base untill he "charge" light flashes. then, on the phone, hold down the flash/call waiting button until the LCD screen says "handset registering." if after it registers it says "error!!!" then retry. that is what it says in the instructional booklet, but i have not done this successfully. mine keeps saying error.

Sounds like the antenna is not working, and signal is not getting to the cordless sets.
Try unplugging your base station (unplug everything; power and phone cable - the basestation were all the cords are plugged into) and leave it unplugged, pull out all the batteries in the phones, and then start by putting all the batteries back into the phones.
Once the phones are back and powered up, plug in the base station again, and see if that helps. All this is doing is re-setting the phones and base station and forcing them to re-link to each other.
All you have to do is reregister the handset per the instructions. IIRC in mine, you press the MENU on the handset, step to register, then press and hold the HANDSET LOCATOR button on the base until it beeps.
Sounds like a defective battery or low battery.
1. Have you replaced the battery?
2. Have you changed the channel?
3. Have you dropped it?
Answer these few questions and we'll see if we can figure it out.
Let me know.
You might try unplugging the base AND removing the batteries from the handset for 30 minutes. Then reinsert the batteries, place the handset in the cradle in the base, and then plug the base back in. This might allow the handset and the base to re-sync with each other.
