I have a user guide for my ASCO 1996 dishwasher however when we lose power it loses its settings. I have had a repair guy come out and charge me $100 just to hit the wine glass 5 times and reset. This time the drain cycle is not long enough and I know you can program it to give it a longer drain but I don't know how and these appliances don't come with programing instructions which seems completely stupid to me!!!!!

I don't think The last guy even read my question. I need a programing guide for the ASCO 1996. I know that pushing the wine glass 5 times resets the programing and that pressing something else a number of times sets how long the dishwasher drains. I need to know what to press to program the washer to have a longer drain cycle. The repair man that came the last time the power went out had a whole sheet of programing information that never came with my machine. Do you have that? my washer is not draining long enough so there is water in the bottom after the cycle is done.

  • angie644 May 14, 2009

There is nothing wrong with my dishwasher except that the settings have been reset and the drain cycle isn't long enough. Over the last 6 years this has happened a couple of times in which the repair guy simply pressed a couple of the buttons and changed the settings. He had a sheet that told which buttons to press and how many times to press them to change the number of minutes that the drain cycle is set for. He gave me the sheet to copy but my copier wasn't working that day.

    I just need programing help.

You were pretty prompt with the first response so I am wondering if you reveived my reply or are you still researching. Thank you

  • angie644 May 19, 2009

There is not a drain cycle button. There is a picture representing a pot a cup a wine glass a shower an "E" which I assume is for ecomomy, a thermostat and a time delay. When I had a tech come out he pressed a series of buttons that restarted and then pressed one of the buttons a few times that changed the amount of time the drain would cycle. There is a program guide out there I have seen it. I either need the info off it or the guide itself.

. If the existing drain from your dishwasher drained into the disposal, and you want to do the same, then you must remove the plastic plug that is molded into the nipple. Knock out the plug using a screwdriver and hammer. Leave the plug in if you are not going to use this drain.

Drain line/air gap
A clog in the drain line or air gap (if there is one) is the usual reason that a dishwasher won't drain. Often the problem is at the point where the drain line attaches to the garbage disposer or household drain line. If you remove this line, you can clear any debris from the hose or hose connection. Be sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher again.

Pump
Your dishwasher pump ejects the water. The pump is usually mounted directly to the motor, then attached to the bottom of the dishwasher. You can reach the pump from inside the dishwasher, but first you need to remove the lower rack, the spray arm, and the spray arm support.

Look for an impeller--a round plastic fan blade-type of device that spins around. This is the wash impeller, which forces the water through the spray arm. Beneath the wash impeller is the drain impeller, which is similar in size and shape to the wash impeller. The drain impeller pushes the water toward the drain port. These components make up the pump. If any of the pump components are defective, you need to replace them.

Drain valve and/or solenoid
Many dishwashers use a drain valve with an electric solenoid. When electricity flows to the solenoid, the valve opens and diverts the water to the drain. Sometimes the solenoid, or the diverting lever, sticks and prevents the dishwasher from draining or filling properly. Try to free up the solenoid to lubricate the lever. Otherwise, you may have to replace the solenoid or pump assembly. With these systems, the motor always rotates in one direction. When it's energized, the drain valve diverts the water.

Other dishwashers simply reverse the direction of the motor to drain the dishwasher. These units don't have a drain valve. Instead, there's a drain hose connected directly to the pump housing.

Belt
One brand of dishwasher uses a belt to drive the pump. If this belt is broken or has fallen off, replace it.

Motor
If the motor isn't turning or working, the unit won't drain. First check to be sure you have power to the dishwasher. If not, see the section "It doesn't work at all." If the motor hums but doesn't turn, it may need to be replaced.

Some dishwashers are susceptible to getting stuck if you don't run them regularly. If you haven't run the dishwasher for more than a week, you may need to manually spin the motor to free it up. If the motor is defective, you need to replace it. Dishwasher motors can't be serviced.

Hi,

Scrape off big chunks of food before you put dishes in the dishwasher, but don't worry about rinsing them off. Most washers are designed to handle food particles. (Don't expect the dishwasher to remove burnt-on foods, though.)

  • Step 2 Position cookie sheets and large platters along the sides so they don't prevent the water from reaching the other dishes.
  • Step 3 Reserve the top rack for plastic items, glasses and mugs. (Make sure that plastic items are dishwasher-safe.) Set plates and bowls in the bottom rack.
  • Step 4 Be sure that glassware is put on the prongs. Loose glasses might break and make a dangerous mess.
  • Step 5 Put pots and dishes with baked-on food in the bottom rack facing down toward the sprayer arm.
  • Step 6 Set silverware handles down, except for knives, which should be handles up in the silverware basket.
  • Step 7 Fill both dishwasher cups with dishwasher detergent.
  • Step 8 Add rinse agent to rinse agent dispenser; replace top of dispenser.
  • Step 9 Close door securely.
  • Step 10 Choose a wash cycle appropriate to the load.
  • Step 11 Choose a dry cycle. Air drying saves energy, but may cause spotting.
  • Step 12 Start dishwasher.

  • Thank You

Try to see if it flashes an error code, that could help identify the problem. Otherwise, if the problem is only with programming and not with the actual dishwasher, you might want to try replacing the program timer module.

Channel Master DVR clock loses time . is there a battery replacement procedure needed ?

It's possible that the DVR's internal battery is losing charge, causing the clock to lose time. Typically, DVRs use a small lithium battery to power the clock and other internal functions. Over time, this battery can lose its charge or fail entirely, which can cause the clock to lose time or reset completely.
To replace the battery in your Channel Master DVR, you'll need to open up the device and locate the battery. Depending on the model of your DVR, the battery may be easily accessible or it may be hidden inside the device. You may want to refer to the user manual or contact Channel Master for specific instructions on how to replace the battery in your model.
Once you've located the battery, you can replace it with a new one of the same type. Lithium coin batteries are a common type used in electronics, so you should be able to find a suitable replacement at most electronics stores. After replacing the battery, you may need to reset the clock and other settings on your DVR.

I have skoda octavia 20 diesiel 2007 .sometimes it will loose power ,i pull over for a few minutes and then start up again and its like arocket again ,any ideas,

You definitely should get it checked at a VAG-COM tester. The Dealer has one, but can charge quite a lot on it's use, and often tries to bundle some nonsense fluid checks, etc. to get a salty invoice. Some independent repair shops and DIY-repair guys have it also and can do the check quite cheap.

    But as a guess:
If the engine dies totally, it's most likely happening because the CPS (Crankshaft Position Sensor) is breaking. Usually this starts happening with the engine being warm or hot.
If it's only hard to start, and loses some power (goes into safe-mode) it might be the valve-cam position sensor that's breaking.
Or it might be that the turbo loses pressure, meaning that the pressure regulator valve is stuck.

    Loses power while in drive.

To what degree do you lose power and in what way? Do you loose over-drive or does it loose power and speed (on the streets, highway, or at any speed). From your discription it does sound like either a fuel flow/pressure issue or a clogged cat.
