Do another hard start...once your on, go to program...assesseries...system and do a RESTORE. Find a restore point when you had good service. If that doesn't work, Go to start...RUN, and type in chkdsk /f /r and hit enter. It may tell you you have to re-statrt it. Let it run it's course and this should work.

Maybe there are to many programs running in the background and thats interefering with the sleep function of the laptop cause it can't allocate enough memory to allow the screen to come back on.

in the search box in your start menu, type in msconfig and press enter. This will take you into the system configuration utility click on the startup tab and this will show you all the programs that are started up when you boot up into windows.

Go ahead an click on the button that says disable all, this will uncheck all of the boxes. Click on apply and then click on Ok and let the computer restart.

Once it restarts and you get back into windows, try again and you should be able to close the lid and then bring it back up and have the screen come back on like normal.

My HP Pavilion dv2000 turns on, but screen is black

If the laptop appears to boot up but the LCD screen is black, then the problem is a back-light fault caused by either a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow my instructions to determine the fault and fix :-

Hp pavilion dv2000 notebook will not boot up

hi,
i m in Hong Kong. The stupid HP repair center charged US 90 just for inspection!!!!! They they said the whole motherboard had to be replaced, thts additional US 630 dollars, the thing is just 1.5 yr old. They also said i don get to keep the broken mother board after replacement. This is simply irresponsible, unethical, sleazy and UNJUST!!

Thanks. right now the computer is fixed for US70. when i hv time, i'll open it up and see if i can figure it out how it was fixed. The shop suggested tht the computer wont last too long. This is such bad quality for HP... Sorry, i hv to do the following for other victims to find this easily:

65cfd24.jpg

If You want test lid switch, just connect A+B together for a monent!
If the monitor flashes on...? Lid switch is faulty.
It is too dificult to change the lid switch, so the easiest way is connect these pins together forever. :))

Dont forget to turn off your notebook... he wont sleep anymore ;))
