Call conferencing I have a Meridian Norstar M7324 telephone and I know how to do a call conference. However, if I am the one to call 2 other parties to start a call conference and then I want to hang up to allow the other 2 parties to chat, how do I do this? I know how to hang up if at least 1 partie has been the one to call me but I am unaware of how to hang up if I am the one to call out to both parties? I am unable to find the proper product name for my type of phone and that is why it is different from what I have written in this detail box.

There is one small thing about this unsupervised conference call, after you dial Feature 70 (Transfer) this holds 2 of your trunks for the duration of this call.

Explaination - if you have 4 telephone lines on your system, 2 of these lines are being used for the whole duration of the conference call, even though you are not involved in the meeting anymore.

Meaning that if the conference call is long distance, after you back out of the call, you still incur the long distance charges.

All you are doing is transfering the call to each other via your telephone lines.

We have Meridian M7324 phones. They are on pulse dialing and need to switch back to touchtone signal.

And did the system default back to 2 lines? It probably lost programming, which will require a system technician or a very good end user to reprogram the whole thing.

Have fun.

Conference call

To make a Conference Call
1. While on a call, press Cnf/Trn_____.
2. Dial a [DN] (or access an outside line and
dial an external telephone number).
3. Press Cnf/Trn after the called party answers.
All parties are conferenced together.
If you added an outside line to the call, press
Cnf/Trn again before hanging up to allow
the outside parties to continue talking. (If
you do not, the call is disconnected).
Note Some types of outside lines
(“unsupervised”) do not automatically
disconnect when conferenced parties
hang up. In this case, press one of the
flashing buttons to monitor the
conference.
If the parties are still on the line, press Cnf/Trn
+ Spkr, then hang up. When no one is
on the line, press Spkr to disconnect the
lines.

Feature 71

If you have a manual, look up RECALL or FLASH or LINK. Specifically Feature 70 and FEAT 71. In your spare button set, you probaly have gray buttons labeled CONF/TRANS and LINK. Now you use them depends on how you are transferring calls. Are you on Centrex or do you have 3 way Conference calling from the telco? That's the one where you can establish a 3 way call and hang up and the other two parties stay connected. If you have that, you'll use the LINK button to get second dial tone, dial your number, and press LINK again to establish a 3-way. LINK time is defaulted at 600 mS, and is adjusted in A 4. Misc programming under LINK. You may just have 3-way calling, and that means the middle party has to stay on the call.

If you don't have 3-way conferencing, you can use the system to conference (using two lines), and the CONF/TRANS button. There may be some disconnect supervision (ie DS cabinet) issues, Supervised/Unsupervised programmnig changes, and transmission losses in conferencing, so your mileage may vary. Best would be maybe to conference with a VoIP trunk or other lossless facility. Anyway, you put the first call on hold, make the second call, then press CONF and the held line to establish a 3-way. At this point, if you have Disconnect Supervision, you can press conference again and leave the call, or put the call on HOLD to keep it on your phone and the other 2 parties can still talk to each other.
