The blue light on my handset is dull. When someone calls I can't hear them but the can hear me. How do I remove the wired handset icon that is on my handset screen

The problem can be in two vertients: 1.- You have the phone in "mute" position, then nobody can hear you, this is easy to identify looking at the lcd scree on the phone for an icon MUTE or the symbol of a microphone with a transverse line on it. 2.- The microphone piece inside the handset is broken or one of its 2 wires is desconnected or desolded, you can try to open the handset but if you do not have any idea what are you doing, don't try. You can cause a worse damage in the process.Â
I Â think the second choice is more likely your issue, since the MUTE function resets itself when you hang up a call.
I found the 800 number to call, spoke to customer service, they gave me the suggestion of unplugging the base from the outlet, removing the batteries from the handset, wait 5 minutes and plug in and put in the batteries. Yes, that fixed it. And then the customer service technician called back later to see if it had worked. I thought that was above and beyond the call of duty. Certainly a good way to win customers!
