GE Microwave JVM3660SD001 Control Panel Removal Procedure

Hi, This problem probably applies to the general lot of GE Spacesaver Microwave units: Please explain in detail how to pop out the Control Panel (containing the touchpad). I am going to replace the one currently indicated bad by the "F3" error code. Thank you!

    Yes, nice explanation.  I would add that the top grill is in a slotted support, so, it must be slided about 1/8 inch to the left to unhook.  Once out of the way, it was simple to identify the captive screw at the top and unfasten the panel as described.  Wonderful!  Many, many thanks!  The microwave is again running!  Just like new!

Remove the grill, should be screws on the top of the unit. There should be one screw behind the grill at the top of the control panel. Remove it and pop the control panel up to remove it. Make sure the mw is unplugged first. Then you can remove the board.

Deanna, it would probably be best to have a second person there to help hold the microwave. You would need to loosen and remove the screws from inside the cabinet that hold the microwave to the cabinet. Just to let you know, as you face the microwave, the right side of it will be a lot heavier than the left side because of all the equipment that is behind the control panel. You might put a pillow or something else soft to help cushion the microwave and protect your counter in case it lets go all of a sudden. Depending on the model and the type of mounting bracket there could be anywhere from 3 to 6 screws that hold it in place. Hope tis helps!

I am getting an F3 Error with my GE spacesaver microwave model # jvm1440wh04. It beeps 4 times while F3 is shown on the display and none of the buttons work.
F3 means that a contact is shorted on the control panel. Replacement contact panel required I think.

Microwave ge spacesaver touchpad does not work except for the
You have a failed membrane keypad.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.
You can find links to helpful exploded view diagrams and part ordering help here.

I recommend that you bookmark that link to your favorites. There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

If you would like to have us do this repair for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs nationwide.

But please note that for some GE models, the membrane keypad is not available as a separate part, so you would have to order the control panel frame assembly which comes with a new keypad.

In this case, you simply move your circuit board into the new frame. That is a simple do-it-yourself job.

Spacesaver powers off 2 seconds after resetting clock and time...
The clue is that you have to reset the clock. You are losing power somehow. the Main Board thinks it is being unplugged and it resets the clock and you have to start all over. The fact that after so many times it will finally work tells me that whatever bad connection you have is finally getting hot enough to expand and make a good enough connection to keep working. Intermittant connections are the worse to find. A lot of trial and error to find the problem. can be bad fuse and fuse holder ( in the unit), bad outlet, loose wire at circuit breaker, loose wire at outlet. Even a loose breaker where it snaps onto the buss bar in the Breaker Box. Etc, it an really drive you nuts trying to find it. Try the unit in a totally different area making sure it is on a compleately different circuit breaker and see what it does, if the problem follows the unit, the problems is in the unit. GE Spacesaver doesn't heat
if you are as lucky as i was...i have a ge spacesaver model jvm130...same problem. first unplug unit and check fuse on the "power control module". if fuse is ok...unscrew the screws holding the "power control module" in place...carefully tilt module and see if a solder joint needs to be re-soldered. my problem was the solder joint under the front plug (5 large wire plug). you may have to unplug the three connectors to the board to get access to bottom. this is the second time i had to re-solder...last one was several years ago though. best of luck tennisrme
