Microwave stopped heating food, but fan , clock
Since you didn't mention the model number, I have to be kind of general. We have a sound clip of
what a microwave should sound like when the cooling fan and high
voltage section are operating here.If it's quieter than usual (like the fan is not coming on) then it's likely a bad door switch or door switch mount or possibly a bad relay or connection no the control board, which we repair. If it's louder than usual, that's usually a problem in one of the high voltage parts.A loud buzz, hum, or groan is usually a
shorted high voltage rectifier diode, but a sound like gurgling into an
empty coffee mug is one symptom of a failed magnetron, and yet the mag can
be bad without that sound.There
should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit
behind the
control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is
very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating
components.
At
our Web site, we have a video
available showing how to remove a typical
over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.
You can find
helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full
model number from the tag on the oven here.

Microwave heats bowl but not food
First of all, you must be sure you are using a microwave safe container. If it is not marked as such, it is not.
Try heating a cup of water in a clear glass container. If it still does not work right, your stirrer may be bad.

there's no obvious removable cover over the bulb (most often on the rear or side) and the owner's
manual doesn't address it, then disassembly will be required.Bulbs can be had in most grocery stores, hardware stores, home improvement centers, and big box or department stores. Many models use halogen lamps. You must not touch the new one with your bare skin, as the oils will shorten the bulb life. We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Light inside microwave does not work
First, Unplug the microwave. Remove the top housing or cover from the unit by removing just the screws holding the cover on.Most of the screws will be philips head.Sometimes manufactures will use quarter inch hex or torc head screws. From the rear of the cover, lift up and pull back to remove.CAUTION:BE CAREFUL NOT TO TOUCH ANYTHING IN THE HIGH VOLTAGE SECTION.You can then locate the lamp and replace it.Always use the same wattage lamp when replacing.Remember, when reinstalling the top cover, you must slide the top and side guides into place located at the front inside cover. Use two people if possible, it makes it alot faster. Then reinstall all screws.Do not overtite. Then your ready for use.
GE Microwave JVM3660SD001 Control Panel Removal Procedure
Remove the grill, should be screws on the top of the unit. There should be one screw behind the grill at the top of the control panel. Remove it and pop the control panel up to remove it. Make sure the mw is unplugged first. Then you can remove the board.
NIGHTLIGHT WON'T WORK BUT SURFACE LIGHT WILL
This is a problem with the control panel assembly, which we repair nationwide for $39.95.
This is most often caused by the filaments shorting when the bulb blows, or by not disconnecting the microwave from the power line when removing or installing a bulb.
