Is the XP machine on SP3? If not, install the updates. Can you at least see the wireless network? Are the router and the PC using the same type of wireless? (I imagine your new router is Wireless N and your old PC is running B or G)

SOURCE: wireless network broken, access to WRT54G & Motorola 2210-02 via http.. denied

I have att yahoo dsl which I installed about a year ago. The process required bridging the ADSL Modem (in my case a speedstream 4100) and accepting dynamic IP addresses and configuring PPPoE on the WAN side of my Linksys router. The ATT support person walked me through the entire process over the phone even though I was comfortable with making the Linksys configuration changes as I had to do the same in China without technical support. The modem configuration was no more difficult than the router configuration as it was performed from a web browser too. The biggest warning was that to reverse the modem change (if desired) required use of a reset button because the web interface was disabled as a result of the configuration change. My advice to you especially if you are willing to attach the Linksys router to the telco modem is to contact the ATT highspeed DSL support line and see if they will walk you through it like they walked me through it. Reviewing your Linksys User's Guide and understanding the configuration of that device would probably be appreciated by the ATT Support person as well as assuring you can access the Linksys router to configure it during the call.

SOURCE: Router seems to drop connection frequently

What a static ip is, is the ip address that the router automatically assigns to other equipment. (computers, xbox, ect.) Find D-links customer support line for help.

SOURCE: setting up linksys wireless router with motorola 2210 dsl modem

One thing that isn't mentioned anywhere is the modem has to be in bridge mode. I was told this by a Linksys tech after doing all that was documented in the references article. I contacted my internet provider and they told me how to set the modem to bridge mode. This corrected the PPPoE error.

Upgrade to the latest firmware on the modem, disable the modem firewall, or bridging the modem will resolve this

You will have to contact Frontier and give them the Mac address of the equipment and they will tell you if it will work or not ( and they will also need to put it in their system)

I upgraded my toshiba NB200 from XP to Vista, but can no longer connect to the internet. Diagnostics is telling me that the computer does not have a wireless network adapter installed. It worked on XP....

Use an Ethernet cable to connect the LAN port on the Toshiba to your cable-modem (or DSL-modem) or to your home-router.

Then, run 'Windows Update', and look for "Optional Hardware" updates, which should include the correct device-driver for the wireless adapter.

You can do it manually without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem.
If your computer is not able to go online through the modem then you will need to call ISP first.

This are some steps on how to setup your modem/router
New DSL Modem Available
Embarq is now shipping an updated version of the DSL Modem called the "660". It is smaller than the older model (645) and is much easier to setup.
A few years ago, Sprint/Embarq changed the way their servers communicate with the DSL modems. The new method is called DHCP, which is how the 660 modem works. The older 645 Modem used "PPPoE". So it's best to have the new 660 DSL modem.
The older 645 modem also had the same default IP address as the Linksys Router (192.168.1.1) - so you had to change one of the addresses to make them work together.
The new 660 DSL modem uses 192.168.2.1 as the default IP address. This does not conflict with the default IP address of the Linksys Router (192.168.1.1). Note that if you had changed the Linksys Router IP address to 192.168.2.1, then you will first need to reset it back to the default address 192.168.1.1.
If you call Embarq and request the new 660 DSL modem they will sent it to you at no cost. When you install the 660 DSL modem, you need to be sure that you power down the old 645 modem amd leave it off at least 1 hour before you plug in the 660 DSL modem. The Embarq server needs to "forget" the old 645 modem. After an hour, all you should have to do is plug in the new 660 modem and everything should start up properly.
Call Embarq Tech Support 1-877-646-3282 if you have problems setting up the modem. If the Internet Lights does not come on after a few moments - then call Embarq Tech Support.

Heyyy i have take tosiba model L300 wireless len drivers so wht can i do????

You need an Internet Service Provider and a wireless router and a broadband DSL or cable modem. The DSL or cable modem could have a built-in wireless router, this modem could be included in the broadband plan from the Internet Service Provider.
1. You need organise an Internet Service Provider, they should provide configuration settings, password, and e-mail info etc.
2. Install the hardware device and wireless LAN drivers. If you have not got these drivers, download them from the Toshiba WEB site. Make sure you select your model laptop and the XP or Vista versions of the drivers that match the Windows version on your laptop.
3. Follow the Internet Service Provider to configure your LAN card, and E-mail program.
If you follow the instructions correctly you will be able to connect to the Internet and send and receive E-mails.

A recent mac laptop with Tiger & bootcamp/win XP will connect to the internet via a Netgear DG834G adsl modem with ethernet cable in tiger & XP but only in xp with wireless. Any advice? JL

If I understand you correctly you have an Intel based MAC, with the boot-camp boot manager, so you can choose to boot either from the native MAC OS or from Windows XP.

The system works fine from the MAC OS, but the (wired) ethernet does not work from XP.

1) When you boot into XP mode, the XP operating system is in
charge and the MAC OS is dormant.

2) Check the XP device manager to see if the ethernet NIC
(network device) is properly installed and if the device
drivers are functioning.

From Windows XP:

Right click My Computer ==> Properties => Hardware ==>
==> Device Manager ==> Network Adapters =>
==> Your network controller

Right click on your network controller ==> properties

Check the device status !!!

2) If the device is NOT working properly, you may need to
download and install a device driver for this card.

3) If the device IS working properly, you may need to run
the NETWORK SETUP WIZARD from the control panel:

START ==> Control Panel ==> Network Setup Wizard ==>
==> Next.

4) Assuming you are connecting to DSL with a login password,
use the: "My computer connect to the internet through a
modem" option.

If your DSL is always on, or if you use a local router to
connect to the DSL modem (the router does the work)

Then you choose the: "My computer connects to the
internet through another computer or a residential gateway"
option.

I have a DSL router provided by frontier. I am trying to make my desktop wireless. I believe that my DSL router functions as a modem also. I purchased a Linksys wireless broadband router. I can't not...

Your router should just be that, a router. Your connection is probably like fibernet the modem is actually on the outside of the house. This may help or may not but I have a linksys wired router that works very well but you have to go to their website in order to set up the router. You may need to look through your papers and find the web address to connect to the right site.
