you need to reset the Bulb Hours in the on screen menu. it turns off because the bulb contains mercury and after a certain amount of hours the bulb will burst, spreading mercury every where. reset the bulb hours and it should stay on.
hi,
Did you rest the lamp hour after replacing the lamp. It is recommended the you have to reset the lamp hour after replacing the lamp. For resetting the lamp hour do the following.
1. Power ON the projector
2. Press the Menu button
3. Select OPTIONS
4. In OPTION menu select Lamp Reset and press the enter button.
(If the lamp hour counter is at the heights level then the projector will turn OFF after some time.)
ok
In order to reset the bulb counter you need to access the Service Menu: To access the Service Menu: Turn on and warm up press the following sequence: Up Up Left Give it a few goes, it took me 5 minutes to enter with the right timing. The Service Menu will appear, highlight factory reset and the counter goes to 0. Job done. Cheers, Matt.
It's not a short, the blub is near the end of it's life ~ the optoma is designed to detect when the blub is about to blow and shuts itself down. Turning the projector upside down or right side up usually only gives you a brief reprieve (some have reported a modest amount of extra time gained) on the blub ~ but in the end it's on it's way out and the projector will shut down again.
Had the same problem and drove us nuts. What happens when you put in a new bulb is it starts a expected bulb lifetime hour count down. This does not mean the bulb will burn out but it might be time to have a backup. What you can do is go to the menu and search around to reset the bulb counter as if you put in a new bulb. We did this one year ahgo and project is still working fine. It is, however, mounted to the ceiling so there are no vibradtions during cool down.
Good Luck
