My computer is running really slow how do i fix it

U have a serious software issue. Back up all of your important files and using the Dell software that came with unit, restore the computer to its original configuration and reload your files.

download and run ccleaner. This will remove temp files and such freeing up some room. when done you can uninstall it.

And allow it to finish ( may take some time)

Also how much space left on your windows install drive?

Try holding ctrl+alt+del and click on the performance tab to see how much available memory you have.

The best way to do this is to do a complete install of XP and wipe (format) your drive of everything else. You will need to back anything up that you want first though. Make sure you format it as NTFS

XP will run slow unless you have at least 512 mb. of ram and a 1Gig. processor. It can run on less but I do not install it on anything less because it will drag the computer down. More than I said is even better for it to run. If you need help loading it let me know. I will try my best to explain to you how to do this. You must already know since you tried already. Just make sure you do a clean install. Do you have the upgrade CD or the Full Version CD?
