The modem is connected to the internet through charter. They say all is well on their end because they can reset the modem and comunicate with it. My problem is it wont let any wired or wireless devices connect through it. I unplugged it and plugged it back in, and charter reset it from their end but still nothing.

SOURCE: cable modem + dlink router

Your modem needs to be rebooted in order for your router to pull an IP from the modem. To do this, look for a little hole in the back of your modem and use a pen to push the button. Wait for the reboot to finish and then try again in about 20 seconds.

SOURCE: losing connection

I assume this is a cable modem? You need to call your cable company and have a trouble ticket created. I worked for the cable company installing cable for quite a while and I bet my paycheck the signal getting to the modem are below specs and that's why the modem gets dropping the internet connection.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Arris Modem won't work with Airport Express

Not sure how helpful this will be, as I'm running a different piece of gear, plus it requires both troubleshooting + ISP assistance.  I had a similar problem with my AirPort Extreme: AirPort Extreme saw the Arris, iBook saw the AirPort Extreme, but no internet connectivity.

  1. In my case, I needed to set the AirPort to DHCP in the AirPort Utility application.
  2. Power down the AirPort Extreme
  3. Power down the Arris. You achieve this by unplugging the Arris *and* removing the back-up battery.
  4. Wait a few moments.
  5. Insert the battery into the Arris.
  6. Plug in the Arris power supply.
  7. Wait for the Arris to go through the restart protocol; when all the lights on the front panel are solid green, the start-up is complete.
  8. Power up the AirPort Extreme; wait for the front panel light to go solid green.
As I was doing this, I had my ISP on the phone that confirmed complete connectivity of the signal path and ensured that I was online.  While the Arris was powered down, my ISP also sent a "message" to the Arris; I don't know if this was a software update or what.  I completed the AirPort set-uo through the Utility application, the AirPort restarted, and I was online.
Hope this helps.

Arris TM902 modem (CHARTER) causes random "waiting for 24.217.29.129" hangs. 24.217.29.129 is for Charter in Denver Col. How do I fix this ?????

This is (for me, anyway) caused by a routing problem within Charter's network. They inject a redirect to a page to try to force you to agree to terms and conditions. That page is on 24.217.29.129. For me, that IP is unreachable - a traceroute shows a routing issue inside Charter's network - a packet bound for that address ends up bouncing between 2 of their routers and eventually the TTL expires. Their useless troubleshooting chatbot will just want you to reset your cable modem, which will do nothing but waste your time - the problem is inside Charter's network.

I have an at&t 2wire 2701hg-b but i dont have at&t internet i have charter and i am not able to figure out how to get my internet to work with this router please help

att 2 wire is a Adsl Modem (Requires a telephone line jack to get the signals) but charter communication is a cable internet service (not DSL) , Requires a TV cable service for internet .
These two jacks differs and there working differs ..
Means : Att works with the username and password type of authentication but charter requires the MAC address of modem for authentication .
Therefore for a cable internet 2wire 2701hg-b modem cant be used . But yes in case charters has username and password authentication and works with the telephone jack in house then its possible to use the same modem.

How do i get my hp pavilion a320n to connect to the internet through charter

Usually Charter will supply the modem necessary to connect your computer- you will need an ethernet cable as well. Once you have the cable modem connected- connect the ethernet cable to your pc. At that point, you should be able to connect to the internet

I have charter internet with a modem and i have a westell 327w wireless router/modem. How can i connect the two modems to work wirelessly?

I think the Westell Router/modem that you have must be the modem for the DSL connection.
Charter is a cable internet service provider.
You can not use 2 modems connected to each other.
You have a charter modem , you can purchase a wireless router only.
That will work.

Local area connection, no internet connection

My guess is the LAN port on your motherboard is bad. The simple solution would be to add a PCI ethernet card and disable the one on your motherboard in device manager.

Cable modem

Go and buy a router. Plug your existing modem into the WAN port and your computers into the LAN port. You could even get a wireless router and connect your upstairs computer wireless. Be sure to lock down your SSID (Wireless Access Point Broadcast Name) so your neighbors or people driving by don't get on and do bad things on your network.

Dropping internet connection

check if this problem is with both wired and wireless computers, if not with the wired..only wireless has problems, check if you have any other wireless device operating in the same frequency of the router..if s, turn off other devices and check b.cos that me interfere your w/ls connection, if wired is having the same problem, connect modem straight to the pc and observe the connection, so that you can isolate problem..
