SOURCE: Memory Card Error - Locked

Take the card out, and you'll see a little slide switch on the side of the card. It is most likely in the "lock" position.

If it's a brand new card, it needs to be formatted with the camera. If it's been used before, the files may have been corrupted when plugged into your (or another) computer.

SOURCE: Cannon power shot sx100is...view finder says "card Locked"

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

Did you get an SDHC card? The SDHC protocol was developed after the SD600 came out, and the SD600 is not compatible with it. Use SD cards with a maximum of 2GB storage capacity.

Power Shot SX 60 HS. Was working fine. Why is it displaying 'memory card error'?

There is a couple of possible solutions here.
Do you format the memory card in the camera or just delete the images when you have uploaded them to a computer?
Cards should be formatted by the camera (not on a computer) once you've moved the pictures to your computer, this ensures the folder and file system on the card are set up correctly.

It may also be that your memory card actually has an error in which case it would need to be replaced. If you have access to another card to try see if you still get the same error.
If you do then it may be a camera issue.

Using my Canon SH Power Shot SX60 SH Camera, Today I to took a view more shots and it just keeps giving me the ERROR Message(memory card error)I have Valuable pic's on this card and now don't open up.

Your card may be full, or else corrupt. Either way, replace it immediately. If it can be read in your computer, copy all the photos to the hard drive. If not, then find a friendly computer-tech who can run image rescue software on it for you.

I got cannon power shot sx130 is it reads memory card error the memory card is not locked but the eject button is not working how to fix this problem. thanks

Try to switch off the Camera and restart it gain. Again, Sometimes, its due to some auto-run software running in the card which prevents that from ejection. You can try to even format the card in the camera itself. That may work also.

As a last resort, check up your camera and get that memory card removed out of your Camera.

Memory Card does not work in our Cannon 6.0 MP Power Shot A540. Message says Memory Card Error - Card Locked.

Hi,

Turn off your computer the remove the memory card. Look at the card, it should have a small tab on the side that could be slide up or down to lock and unlock it. Just adjust it opposite from its position now and it should be fine.

Hope this helps. Thank you for using FixYa.

Memory card is locked for Cannon Power Shot SD790 - how can I fix the problem?

There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". Some include trying to use of a 4GB SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. Others include problems with the switch on the side of the card, or the switch internal to the camera. The problem may also arise from simple formatting problems if the card has never been formatted in the camera (note that this will also erase the card). Troubleshooting tips for this problem may be found at this link.
