SOURCE: Monitor Switched Itself Off, Won't Turn Back On

If you have another monitor at home, try the other monitor. If not, take your computer to a friends house and try their monitor. I have a similar problem with my Compaq Presario SR1120NX. It turns on fine, then after a while screen saver kicks in, turns off monitor. Monitor status light turns amber. I move the mouse and it never turns back on. Have to hold power button down, then turn back on to get video back. Any suggestions?

SOURCE: Monitor show picture for a few seconds, then turns black

It sounds like the power supply board on your monitor is failing. If it's still under warranty you might be able to get a replacement from the manufacturer - if not, you might be able to have it repaired at a computer or TV repair shop.

SOURCE: Emachine 19" Widescreen Flat-Panel TFT-LCD Monitor

Your power/inverter board is in need of an overhaul.
The capacitors are failing and possibly a transistor.
If the screen showed any redness or pink whebn it was working, Then there is a slight chance that one or more of the 4 lightbulbs in the screen was going bad and finally went.
If you take it apart and send me a picture, I may be able to tell by looking at it.
I repair these boards on ebay

SOURCE: monitor screen picture won't stay on for longer than a second

I had the same problem with my eMachine t3418. Site advisor Micromend suggested changing the power supply to more wattage. Very much recommend doing that. I did but it didn't fix the problem. Micromend also advised trying a video card. I bought a cheap vid card and installed it. It worked. Apparently MY problem was in the motherboard and the vid card worked around that. Much cheaper than replacing the computer. I'm NOT a tech. Just sharing my experience with what worked for me. I you have a laptop or a friend does, hook your monitor to it to test that it's okay first though.

SOURCE: My monitor will not stay on, it goes on sleep mode

Hi,
Your problem may be due to the sleep button in your keyboard may got struct into when you cleaned your keyboard.
Try to resolve the struct in the keys, if any.
Restart your system and if still your problem persists, then remove your keyboard and restart your computer and try with some other keyboard if possible. Once if you find out that the problem is with your keyboard, then replace the keyboard / service the existing one.'

I hope this is helpful to you. Please provide your ratings.
Thanks

I would like to reduce brightness on my ASUS VH242H

Actually, the problem isn't with the drivers. Right click on the battery icon in your system tray. Select "Power Options" (NOT Power4Gear eXtreme). On the right panel, select "Adjust the display brightness." Then, select "Change advanced power settings." Scroll down and open up the "Display" box. The options that are affecting your screen brightness on battery are "Allow SmartDimmer to reduce my brightness after," "Have SmartDimmer reduce my brightness by," and "SmartDimmer full-screen video mode." Playing with the percentages in these boxes will affect how your screen brightness adjusts itself. To get my screen to stop re-brightening itself, I changed "Allow SmartDimmer to reduce my brightness after/ On Battery:" to 100%. I then changed "Have SmartDimmer reduce my brightness by/ On battery:" to 0%. Finally, I set "SmartDimmer full-screen video mode/ On battery:" to Maximum Power Saving. This should solve your screen-rebrightening problems even with the 163.44 drivers (I use those too). Please Rate.

There are two possibilities, one is bad caps in the power supply, number two is shorted out transistors (P/N c5706/5707) in the inverter circuits. hypersonic98, Did you try the flashlight test?? Did it do this yesterday? When was the last time you saw a crisp, sharp, bright, PICTURE-PERFECT image on the lcd screen? How old is the unit?? Have you swapped an old monitor in place to get online? What does the power indicator lamp(led) do? Does it stay "on" or go out, or change color? Have you read any stuff about bad electrolytic capacitors in lcd monitors yet? Do you know about CCF tubes and their power source. Have you some understanding of how a switch-mode-power-supply functions? Get back to me with some info and I will let you know some options that are open to you as a consumer. Monitor comes on, I can see everything perfect then goes black

"Most" newer monitors will let you know if the are no longer receiving a signal. Sounds like the backlight is burnt out. Try getting a bright (LED works best) flashlight and shining it at the screen at all angles to see if you can see any of what you were doing. If the backlight is on the fritz, either return it on warranty or buy a new one.

Microtek 997M monitor doesn't stay on...

The inverter is the most common item to fail on a LCd monitor. Capacitors usally fail the most. Are the tops of any of them popped up. If you had any shorted transistors the fuse would probably be blown. Usally labeled F1. I would replace all the capacitors first and go from there. Capacitors are cheap.

your pc may be set to a resolution that is out of range for the monitor. Boot into "Safe mode" reset the Display settings to 640 x 480. reboot into normal mode then change the screen settings to your desired resolution.
