Runs great for 30 sec. to 1 min. then dies slowly

I have a husqvarna with a 16" bar and im guessing around 3 hp engine. I bought the saw used so not quite sure the details it is the one with the grey plastic engine cover. It ran fine when I first got it then all of a sudden bogged out and die while not even cutting. I rebuilt and adjusted the carb and replaced the rubber connector from the carb to the cylinder. Also I replaced the fuel line and filter. But the saw will only run for 30 seconds to a minute before slowly bogging out to its death mind you it runs excellent for those few seconds. I am a very decent mechanic and this thing has me stumped. What am I missing?

As I said I have already rebuilt the carb repaced the fuel line and filter. Also to add I have checked the spark plug and am getting a nice blue arch. So anyone else got ideas?

Is it your chain saw Husqvarna 40?

Try carb adjustments H-3/4 turn ,L-2 turns and T a little higher
I presume that compression and ignition sistem is adequate for the engine to run.Good luck

Will not stay running

If it will run for ten minutes before it stops i would say it is either the fuel tank breather ( to test this slacken off the fuel filler cao when it starts to die, if it picks up again replace the breather ) or it is a problem with the ignition unit breaking down, replace the ignition unit.

Starts and runs good for 5 maybe 10 min. then it dies and won't start and run right

Remove the fuel cap to see if the saw will run longer--if so, the fuel vent would appear to be plugged. If no help, then check the fuel filter, air cleaner, and muffler for plugging. Check the fuel lines for decay or other damage. Hope some of this helps!

Husqvarna 235 is not oiling.Hole and groove on bar have been cleaned. The saw does drip oil with the bar off when running. All parts are clean but bar is not getting oil.Hope you can help, thanks.

With saw running and high speed hold saw close to a piece of wood and check for oiling. If still no oil, then use air pressure at hole in bar to clear.

Husqvarna 235e will not stay running

Take the saw back for warranty service. We have a Husky #435 that had starting problems when new last year--warranty service replaced the ignition module the first trip, then a little later, they replaced the carburetor--it has worked very well since. I suspect that Husqvarna has had problems with our ethanol blended fuels. Hope this helps!

142 chain saw. Starts but will not pick up when

Check the fuel lines for hardness, cracking, splitting, or end rot. Check the muffler for plugging. Check the carburetor fasteners for tightness. Are you using fresh fuel mix? If the carburetor jets have been adjusted, try turning both CW to stops (lightly) then back out each CCW 1-1/2 turns. Engine should start and run--allow to warm up. Pull the throttle full on, and adjust H needle CW until the engine starts to speed up, but still 4-strokes. Proper adjustment is when the engine 4-strokes, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. Let idle and adjust L CW for fairly smooth running, but still allows the engine to 'follow the throttle'. Hope this helps!

Chain will not stay on

Hi Dave:
If you hold the bar nose up when adjusting and tightening the bar, then I think your saw is like detail A here (may not be your saw):
http://weborder.husqvarna.com/order_static/doc/HIUS/HIUS2008/HIUS2008_506955901.pdf
Configure it like detail B and the problem is solved. I did a quick search for item 16 (<$25) and available. You also need item 14 (2 each, $1±), and a scrench ($10± at a local saw store after you get the bar nuts).

If the saw listed is not yours, you can find yours here:
HusqvarnaUSA.com
http://www.husqvarna.com/us/homeowner/support/download-manuals/
Enter the 3 digit model number (no XPs, Es, just the numbers)
Serial number decode – useful when downloading IPLs and Manuals
06 1500198
06 = year produced – 2006 (single digit before 2000; please contact Husqvarna for single digit clarification http://www.husqvarna.com/us/homeowner/support/customer-support/)
15 = week produced – March
00198 = 198th unit Husky produced that week

My saw runs for 10 secs then stops, out of fuel. It will run for 30 secs on the choke, but stops. Primer bulb is dry when it quits. It is a Mac 225-16 - anyone know where the fuel filter is?

On the bottom of a hose in the fuel tank. Did you replace or disconnect the fuel lines? I think improperly plumbed. It should be similar to this.

HUSQVARNA MODEL 50 BAR AND CHAIN UPGRADE

I have a nearly worn out 42 cc Husquvarna that uses a 20 inch bar very successfully. With proper filing of the chain you should be able to run a 22 inch bar very well. Ensure that the roller nose on your new bar matches the pitch of the clutch sprocket that you are using at present. If not, have your chain saw shop change them so they match.

I would advise that you change the bar and sprocket to use a .375 chain as this will be easier to sharpen successfully than the .325 pitch chain you might be presently using.

I am six feet tall and short bars are murder on my back so this is why I use no shorter than 20 inch bars on my saws.
