Add extra handsets to Uniden 5.8Mhz

I have 3 handsets already in use. Our son had a problem with his Uniden base and had to purchase new one. He has given us his old 3 handsets to add to our 3, but for some reason I cannot get the base to recognise these handsets. Could you please let me know if this is possible and how to do it.
Thanking you
Regards

First thing to try.... place each handset into the base of the system you want them to be on.... and watch the charging light... it should flicker... the phone may work then... do that with all the phones..... also what is the make and model of the unit you already had.

And if you don't already have it... here is the user guide for that phone system.

Cannot find the right manuel for my Uniden DECT1580-3 cordeless phones. I tried the web site but noluck

Here's the link to the 1580-2 manual at Uniden. It's the same system, except the -3 version has 3 handsets and the -2 only has 2. The base unit and extra handsets are the same.

How do i add another handset "uniden 6.0" phone to an existing phone and base unit of the same brand.I need the step-by-step instructions please. thank you!

First make to get a compatible handset.

For the Uniden D1660-2, the compatible handsets are DCX160 and DWX337. Make sure that you have not exceeded the number of handsets that the phone can support. The D1660-2 can support 12 handsets unless you use any DWX337 handsets. Then the limit is 6. (If you have more handsets, you will need to deregister some of them first.) Then allow the handset to charge. If the handset is reading "not registered", then place it into the base unit. You should see "Handset Registering" for about 30 seconds; then it will read Registration Complete. The manual for the Uniden D1660-2 is available here: http://www.uniden.com/content/ebiz/uniden/resources/ownersmanuals/D1660-2om.pdf . This is the most common Registration for Uniden phones; there are a few exceptions (depending on the base or the replacement handset). Check the appropriate manual (see below to find the manuals).

For the DECT4096, press Menu on the base and then navigate to Handset Register. When you see Handset Registering on the base display, press and hold # on the handset to be registered until you see Handset Registering. (It takes about 2 seconds.) After the display changes to Handset Registered, check for dial tone.

On a few Uniden phones, there is a Page/Handst Register button on the base. On those you navigate through the Handset menu to Handset Register (Menu > Handset menu > Handset Registration). Then press and hold the Page button until you hear a beep. Then wait for the registration to be completed.

Most Uniden manuals are available here: http://www.uniden.com/scat/cordlessphones_mnl . Select your type of Uniden phone and scroll through the list to your model or use the search box to directly search for your phone and the manual.

I hope this helps.

I have Uniden DECT1480-3. I purchased two expandable handsets, but I cannot figure out how to get the new handsets to register with the base unit.

Up to 6 handsets can be registered with the DECT 1480 phones. I have the 5 phone unit and needed to add the 6th phone. All I got was "Searching" in the display and the battery wouldn't even charge!

So here's what you have to do to get additional phones (up to 6 units) to work with the base. If you can get past step 1, it's a snap...

Step 1: Place a charged battery in the handset. This could be a problem if all your handsets are not registered, since unregistered phones don't charge (who thought of that design?). What I did was SWAP the battery from an already registered and charged phone with the new unregistered phone.

Step 2: Here's where the magic happens. Press the 'END' and '#' keys simultaneously... hold them down until a System Reset menu appears. Select "Deregister HS" and press Menu.

Step 3: Now, do the same thing again (hold down END and #), but this time select Base Unavailable and press Menu. You will see Base Unavailable Yes/No... Select Yes. Then place the handset in the base, wait a few seconds, and Voila!. it's registered. You can even change handset numbers using this menu if you play around with it.

Thank you, helpful employee at Costco for supplying the magic code. And hey there, UNIDEN... including this in the operation manual would have saved many customers much grief with de-registered phones!

Enjoy!

I bought 2 sets of the uniden DECT 1480-3. I want 6 handsets to work with one base. How do I add 3 handsets to a base that already has 3 handsets?

Jill,
The only logical way is to get the additional handsets to communicate with the base. And to do that you must set them to the frequency of the base. You Use guide will tell you how to set the frequency n the handsets to talk to the base. They way you set the original ones.
BUT, I doubt if this will work. Why? Because if that was the case if you and I had the same company phones, then I would stand outside your home and set the same frequency on my handset and misuse your phone. A great security risk in today's world. But there is no harm trying it out. Just set the same frequency on the additional ones as the base. If it works, then you will have that many more intercoms too. And do let me know if it works.

Uniden DECT 6.0 - 2 Handset

You may have to manually "register" your handsets to the base. This is supposed to do it automatically but there are instructions for "registering" your handsets if the automatic feature fails or you add a new base, etc. Consult your owner manual for instructions.

Tru 9496

SOLUTION:

1. First, remove the battery cover on your unregistered TCX905 and look under the battery to confirm that you indeed purchased a TCX905 because some Uniden handsets were packaged as 905's but were not.

2. Take the fully charged unregistered 905 to the base unit TRU9496.

3. On the TRU 9496 base unit press "Menu" then select "Registration" and press OK

4. You should get the message "press the # key on the remote handset".

5. Depress the "#" key on the unregistered 905 and it should register.

Uniden dect6.0 handsets do not operate

I am writing for my Mum, who is 99. We live far apart, so it is a bit difficult to fix her problem. She had a new Uniden DECT 60 (?) installed in early July. It seemed to be working fine when we left her, but she says it only rings twice before going to voice mail. She says it has always been like that. How can we fix this for her even though we live at a distance?.

Only one handset can be registered at a time. The handset ID for the supplied handset(s) was assigned at the factory, which has #1 or #2 in the display (#2 for models that have two handsets in packaging). When you register additional handset to the base, the handset ID will be assigned. 1) Before registering the extra handset, the battery pack must be charged for 15-20 hours. 2) Place the extra handset in the main base unit to begin registration. 3) While the handset is registering, Handset Registering will appear in the LCD. When Registration Complete is displayed, the handset has been registered to the base. If Registration Failed appears, please try these steps again.
