However, if i connect the hard drive after starting the laptop and just restart with the external hard drive connect it boots properly.

Hi!

Yepp, its easy to solve that problem. Get in the bios and change the boot up seqvence, ist probly set to look for all kinds of bootble divices, change that to only boot from the hdd in your laptop, disable all other boot devices, when you done that, hit F10 to save the settings and restart your laptop.

Good luck

To get into BIOS and change boot on Sony: i think it is F3 while you are starting the PC, then F2 or F1

The external hard drive is not set up to boot from. In order to boot from any hard drive you have to have an operating system on it and a Master Boot Record, which is built when you load the operating system. External hard drives are used to save data.

My Sony Vaio VGN NW225F laptop won't start up.

First thinkg I'd do is to connect an external monitor to the laptop to see if you can get an image, any image, during booting. If you can't see anything, either using the laptop's screen or external monitor, then you have a hardware failure in the laptop that's probably beyond the abilities of a novice to repair. Get somebody who knows about how to clear the CMOS of the laptop.

I have a Sony vaio vgn-cr120e laptop, the factory harddrive has 140 GB 5400 rpm,I want to buy an external harddrive that has 7200 rpm,I would like to know if the 7200 rpm going to be compatible with my PC.

For and external USB drive, the RPM is of no consequence. Internally it should only help speed up the access time, assuming it is the same type of drive.
Hope that helps.

I want to get all my sony vaio vgn-s590b driver program because i cant get wifi signal n lan for the internet'

Hi,

Unfortunately, the Wireless card in the VAIO model VGN-S580B does not support n standard. The integrated Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection Driver supports IEEE 802.11b and IEEE 802.11g standards. It is require to use an external Wireless card to use the n standard.

However, here is the link to download all the drivers for your computer model:

Sony vaio vgn-fs8900p isn't booting

Most likely your hard drive has gone bad. It could be your RAM too. I know that you said you checked your ram one stick at a time. What if both sticks are bad? I would get some cheap (low MBs) sticks of ram that are compatible with your computer to see if your computer will start to run right with those in.

Sony Vaio VGN-N250E/W Not Booting/Responding

Take the battery and power supply out and hold down the power button for 30 seconds. This will reset your hardware settings. Your backup battery isnt your problem. Does your battery light turn on when charging? Does your keyboard lights light up when it runs for a second (try pressing caps lock)?
