Hi
I have recently bought a external harddrive - Maxtor. Whenever i connect the external harddrive and start the laptop it does not boot. i only gives power singal at the front of the laptop.
However, if i connect the hard drive after starting the laptop and just restart with the external hard drive connect it boots properly.
Can any one please advice of getting over this problem i am facing.
Thanks for your help.
Hi!
Yepp, its easy to solve that problem. Get in the bios and change the boot up seqvence, ist probly set to look for all kinds of bootble divices, change that to only boot from the hdd in your laptop, disable all other boot devices, when you done that, hit F10 to save the settings and restart your laptop.
Good luck
Nic
The external hard drive is not set up to boot from. In order to boot from any hard drive you have to have an operating system on it and a Master Boot Record, which is built when you load the operating system. External hard drives are used to save data.
